The Mobil 1 Euro 0w/40 carries the Porsche A40 rating approval rating.... which is no joke.

Here is Porsche A40 testing procedure:

This test will last 203 hours. The engine, and the oil, will go through:
    - 4 times the simulation of 35 hours of summer driving,
    - 4 times the simulation of 13.5 hours of winter driving,
    - 40 cold starts,
    - 5 times the simulation of 1-hour sessions on the “Nrburgring” racetrack,
    - 3.5 hours of “running-in” program

Measurements on the engine and on the oil will be done at regular intervals, and the following parameter
will be taken into account to grant the approval or not:
    - torque curve (internal friction),
    - oxidation of the oil,
    - Piston cleanliness and ring sticking,
    - Valve train wear protection. Cam & tappet wear must be less than 10 μm.
    - Engine cleanliness and sludge: after 203 hours, no deposits must be visible.
    - Bearing wear protection: visual rating according to Porsche in-house method.

This is a Long Lasting, High Temp , High Film Strength High Detergent oil..... that also can be used in winter temps.
What more could you ask for?

I run it out to 8k miles in all my "out of warranty" gassers. NEVER one issue with any of them. Some are in the 400k mile range. (The 203 hour test simulates 10,000 miles of driving)

    It's good stuff.

For comparison on the 10 micron valvetrain wear test.... this chart puts things in perspective.

10 microns is about the size of a red blood cell

That blend is what MB recommended, for use in the smart cars. I Use that it in mine. The engines were far from being European made. The 3 cylinder were manufactured by Mitsubishi. My old smart car would Achieve 44 miles per gallon on the highway running 93 octane. 10k mile between oil changes.

We just took Piccolo (our car has a name) on a couple trips from LA to Palm Springs and averaged 26.0 on the first trip because we were pushing him really hard, and on the second trip we averaged 38.3 mpg. We now get 31 city 38 highway, which is pretty good.
    I don't have a car, or a FIAT, yet. But, we do have a 500 as a family car. It's a 2014 FIAT 500 1.4 MultiAir 105 Pop, 6-speed AISIN AS60T Automatic, Grigio & Nero, 15" steel wheels, and a white stripe.

    105 hp - 100 lb-ft.
No big mods, except for one, a K&N air filter.

You know something is good when it's approved by one of the largest sports car manufacturers in the world!

Hahaha. How can it hurt your gas mileage??? FIAT recommends it in colder climates iirc. We have yet to put 0W/40 in ours yet. If it runs better than on 5W30, when the big 60k service is due, I'll ask if they can put 0W40 in there. 0W40 though is very thin. Like water thin.

12.9? On one tank? Isn't the 500s tank like 9.2 gallons or 9.3 gallons, or something like that?

It clearly states I filled up in Bakersfield, and filled up again once home for the total fuel usage.

I was asked why I dont use a lubricant that meets Chrysler Spec MS-6395

    ms-6395.jpg

#1. That spec is a joke! It was written in the mid 1970's, then revised about 15 years ago. It's a 50 (FIFTY!) hour test, unlike Porsche's 203 hour test)
#2. Its nothing more than a marketing tool. Companies have to PAY Chrysler for the endorsement. Most any oil you can buy today EASILY exceed's the testing criteria, but if you dont pay Chrysler, you dont get the endorsment. It's the same with GM's DEXOS. You PAY, or you dont Play.

Look at the cam wear numbers... it's NINE TIMES what the Porsche A-40 test allows and 15% clogging of the oil screen is A-OK! Yea, sounds like a oil I really want to use....

Chrysler / Fiat only care about getting the car to the end of the warranty period, and thats it. If they can make a little $$$$ off a bogus oil spec, they'll do it.

Dont fall for it. Do your own research.
