    DIY Heated seats anyone?

Has anyone installed the one of the heated seat kits?
Looking for input as to wiring, switches, ease of install.
Considering buying a Abarth w/o heated seats.
It would sure be nice to have a warm derriere.
    Thanks

I did this when I first got my car since I do not like wearing jackets when driving. It wasn't the hardest job but it wasn't easy, either. My hand got pretty cut up. Use gloves when doing this. I used this kit. I spliced into the 12v power from the cig lighter. When you are taking the rings off and on for the seat skins, I highly recommend you have some hog ring pliers on hand. It makes the job a lot easier.

On a somewhat related topic, my car has the factory heated seats but there is no way to control the temperature, and man, do they get hot. Anyone know where I can get some information on how to add temperature control to factory heated seats? I'm electrically/electronically savvy so heavy duty electrical work doesn't scare me.

There are a few DIY circuits for maintaining seat temps at a steady setting, if you are into bread-board building. Otherwise, have you considered putting in a rheostat for manual temp control? After GM's heated seats literally burned some owners, they installed a 3 way switch. It's basically a toggle with resistors... off, mild, normal, and roast your chestnuts settings.

I very much doubt it. It’s just off, and on. Our other cars, heated seats have a couple heat settings. The 500, I just turn them off. Not a big deal.
