    ABS sensors

So i replaced the driver side front abs sensor, but I still get an error that the sensor is reading bad. Question, will grounding issues cause just one sensor to freak out?

I occasionally get a beep from the car and then it starts displaying errors again while im driving, could this be ground issues or a plug? Maybe a broken wire. got the car for next to nothing so I just want it to be useful. 2012 fiat 500 sport 113000 miles, new wheel bearings, control arms front, rear shocks, tires, and its clean ISH.

Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Out of curiosity, what code is it throwing and does it stay on or simply come on/off occasionally? I assume both front tires are the same make and size... and that they aren't slipping (as in hard acceleration).

c0030-29 and c0031-29 are the codes, tires are new and the same size. When I clear the code it comes back with in 30 feet of driving. I am at work till 7 est, so when I get out I'll mess with it more.
Thank you for responding, this is a new car, new manufacturer for me.

    Trouble Code C0030-29, C0031-29

Thanks. I'd asked about tires because a low tire pressure can throw that code on some. Many of those can be a bad sensor (and I once saw a new aftermarket sensor read bad)... but here's a list of standard causes, including bad wiring. It might be time to have it checked by a pro?

    FIAT DTC C0030-29

Make:FIATCode:C0030-29Definition:Left Front Tone Wheel - Invalid SignalDescription:Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module detects periodic drops of a Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) signal.Cause:
    • IMPROPER LEFT FRONT TIRE PRESSURE/MISMATCHED TIRES
    • WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR/TERMINAL DAMAGE
    • TONE WHEEL/ BEARING DAMAGE
    • LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR (WSS)
    • ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE

Failure Type:Signal InvalidThis sub type is used for failures where the value of the signal is not plausible given the operating conditions.

Code:C0031-29Definition:Left Front Speed Sensor - Invalid SignalDescription:Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module detects multiple drastic changes in Left Front wheel speed.Cause:
    • CHECK LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR LOOSENESS
    • INSPECT CIRCUITS/CONNECTOR/TERMINALS FOR DAMAGE
    • LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AND HUB OR ENCODER FOR DAMAGE
    • LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR
    • ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE

Failure Type:Signal InvalidThis sub type is used for failures where the value of the signal is not plausible given the operating conditions.

Gonna be doing the work myself so i can learn every inch of this car. Save some monies in the process.

Looks like a bad pigtail behind the fender liner. Also got springs and shocks done today just in time for it to rain...LOL

I'm not sure how you could damage one, but it's easy to install backwards. Did you have equipment to do this at home, or take it down to a shop?

    Excellent trouble shooting!

Y'all will never guess what was wrong......Destroyed driver wheel bearing, looks like they used and air chisel to get the axle nut off and then put it back on with all the torques. LOL bearing was separating. Exactly why you do your own work. That way you know it got done right and if not its your fault.

    By the way.....IMG_20210408_130520_1.jpg
