Must be enough 'cause they seem to hold events there. Should be a lot of fun.

    Good morning y'all

Hope everyone has an easy Friday and a great weekend coming up. Why not take a moment and post some pictures of your car in the Ride of The Month thread. We'd love to check your car out.

Morning y'all Hope everyone is having a good week.

I've been swamped with extra work hours, working on my old sport coupe trying to get ready for Fiat FreakOut next week, plus my wife's lease on her Stelvio is up so we've been looking for a new car. We just picked up a Grand Cherokee yesterday. We looked at new Alfas and Audis. I was naturally leaning towards a Giulia , but the extra room won out.

Nice looking car. What packages did you spring for? I think I'd enjoy the collision avoidance system; set the cruise and let it adjust to traffic speed.

Thanks! That sounds good, but I may just fall asleep!

There were so many models to choose from, my wife made a spread sheet for all the cars she was looking at. She got a GC Limited with Luxury Package 2 and the Protection Package which are floor liners. Her big thing is she likes sunroofs, the bigger the better, so this comes with the panoramic roof. It's got a lot of electronic stuff. The thing she didn't want is the collision or driver assist stuff. She's not into that.

Me? I can't believe how much cars are now (although my 1982 GTV6 was $20K back then). The only car I'm really longing for right now is this :

Other than a GTI, I never bought a car that wasn't an Alfa or Fiat product. I've always wanted a 70-71 Challenger, so that would be the first America car I bought if I get one. I had a Duster as a first car, but that was given to me by my sister and had a blown engine and a bad transmission. LOL

I worked a body shop in 1973 and saw a lot of those super cars. The owner was the local Kendall oil supplier, so the Don Garlits team dropped by. Time to time, we had Chargers, Challengers and Super Bees in the shop; beautiful machines. It sounds like you've personally owned more classic Italian cars than our entire city. Of course, there were more around than we ever saw... all tucked safely away in someone's garage. My Fiat 600 emblem came from inside a wall when the house owner remodeled the garage, a car that seldom saw the road.

    Agreed on car prices.

Working at a couple Chevrolet and Pontiac dealerships in the 70’s. Owned nothing but GM muscle cars. Camaro’s Chevelle‘s, Trans Am’s. Pick several, British sports cars, off our wholesale lots.Triumph Spitfire, MG’s, a Sunbeam Tiger. VW beetle, a Thing. I really didn’t care for any of the Chrysler muscle cars at the time. Really Shoddy, build Quality. They are now asking top dollar for them now. Hadn’t any interest, in any Fiats at the time either. They were always traded in, with premature rust, and mechanical issues. No one wanted to work on them.

I’m a diehard Honda consumer. Every since my wife’s first mid 70’s Civic. The 85 Predule, the CRX’s. Our latest 18 Honda Accord Touring. I owned lots of Jeep’s CJ’s Grand Cherokee‘s, patriot, our daughters Renegade. They haven’t been that reliable. It’s a Jeep thing. You wouldn’t understand. Out of some 40 new and used cars, one of my favorite. Was the 08 smart car.

My little 500, just turned 10 years old this months. The longest I’ve ever own a vehicle.

Honda was pretty reliable but have had problems in the last 15 years, like many car makers. Excess oil burning, odd parasitic battery drains, infotainment systems, short battery life... all sound familiar to this group. One of the latest is rats eating wiring because the insulation is soy based. (Their "fix" is to provide cayenne flavored tape, which dealers will install for $1000... rather defeating the biodegradable point.) It doesn't help that if a dozen people have a problem, a class action pops up. By the time it's settled the owner no longer owns the car... but the lawyers have a big pay day.

Yeah, cars of the 60's had their problems, too. 100K was a major milestone; big enough that people would pull over and snap a photo of the odometer and brag about for years. The cars were built well enough but when you could buy a used car w/ 60K miles for $500, maintenance wasn't important. We didn't see many cars for rust, but could count on some Fisher Body cars showing up with holes beneath the rear window. The chrome's clips would scratch the paint and the body lines held water.
