Actual they damage both lower rocker panel, which had to be replaced. Damage the engine mounts too. There was about $8k worth of damage to that brand new car. He finally renting a garage to park in. Not cheap. Having a nice car, in the city, is Ridiculous.

    Sucks about your nephew's car.

We wouldn't have even considered a new car unless we had our garage. When I parked our previous cars on the street (Toyota PU that had no real valuable items with a Club for a security system and a Volvo with a Club for a security system - neither would fit in the garage) the first thing I did was buy locking lug nuts and locking gas caps. Thieves still stole the front turn signal units from the Volvo until I screwed them into the body panels under the hood. I have a locking gas cap on my Abarth and have considered locking lug bolts. I might do the lug bolts except that I have spacers so I need special lengths.

Oh, and I had posted recently that my right rear quarter panel window was broken last week in a grocery store parking lot at 9:30am. Thieves have figured out that they can get into the trunk area by breaking that window and tilting a back seat up. They only got a $20 briefcase and about $10 worth of stamps. The window is fixed now but the pisser is that glass chunks fell behind the panel card. I can hear them rattle at times and it bugs me. I am planning to take it all apart and get the glass chunks out of there and put in some Frost King insulation while I am at it. I am also thinking about putting weather stripping at the edges of the glass under the panels to prevent it from happening again. First thing is to order a bunch of panel clips in case they break when I remove the panels. Fixing this is going to be an all day affair I am sure.

Engine bay smells burny after a drive over like 20 minutes. I looked it up and apparently this is common during the first 300ish miles as some grease etc on the outside of the engine may be burning off. Just from looking around, they do appear to have caked that on some of the seals in there. Temperature is normal, oil level’s normal, and the car is running just fine. Will be monitoring that smell though.

    Also, here it is:

Nice to have it back, eh? It's good that you are monitoring the rebuild carefully. Yeah, it's common on a rebuild to have some burning odor, as grease, oil and/or paint cooks off. It might also be good to put it on the rack in a couple thousand to check for any oil leaks. My friend's son had a warranty engine replacement 4 years ago and an axle seal was damaged.

So, there's a minor oil leak above the exhaust, cause of the smell. I have to leave town for a couple weeks and they're gonna fix the leak when I get back, just have to keep checking the level in the meantime.

For topping up, is it alright to use Pennzoil Euro fully synthetic 5W-40 if they used Mopar-branded 5W-40 when topping it up? For a normal car, that would be fine, but I'm wondering if the brand is super important with the MultiAir. I know Mopar recommends the Pennzoil stuff, anybody know if they actually use the same formula?
