They claimed everything from poorer performance to hair growing on your palms. I gave iridium a try and after 130K miles was still getting great MPG & performance.

At least we don’t live in the days before electronic ignition, coil packs, and fuel injection. You had to tune up your car, every 3-4K miles. You could just Re gap the spark plugs. File down the points, re gap. Clean the inside of the distributor cap, retime the ignition set the dwell. New fuel filter, air filter, replace PCV valve.

Nice thread.... but a quick question from the new guy.

Rock Auto lists a external fuel filter, but no one ever mentions replacing one. Is R/A confused, and the fuel filter is a lifetime filter, in the tank?

External fuel filters are listed for the 2012 model but I don't think they were on the US model. The only reference I ever found is re: 2004-2012 w/ the Multijet... and the use of "petrol" indicates the videos are UK. "The fuel filter is located at the rear of the engine. Compartment. Slide out the yellow clip squeeze"

The US spec cars do not have an external fuel filter.

That looks much more like a diesel filter, than a gasoline filter.
I'm servicing the tranny in a few weeks. Once I get it up in the air I'll remove all the underside panels and see if it's "hiding" somewhere.
    Thanks for the replies...

As far as I recall, that filter is for models sold outside the USA. Like the 1.4L I4 8V Engine (E0 fuel) and 1.4L I4 MULTIAIR 16V Engine (E0-E22 fuel) sold in Brazil.

I've always wondered if the MultiAir Flex injectors would fit the US cars, and give us flex fuel like the Brazilian cars have. Probably not. Also waiting for the new 500e to hit the US shores, and the 500x Cabrio to release, too. And the FIAT Type 363 is going to be announced this week! For Brazil... apparently a CVT.
    I don't have a car, or a FIAT, yet. But, my mom does have a 500. It's a 2014 FIAT 500 1.4i MultiAir Pop, Grigio & Nero, 6-spd automatic, 15" steel wheels, and a white stripe.
