We have just confirmed that the new 2018 Fiat 500 for the NAFTA region will be built at the Toluca Mexico plant. This is contrary to media reports saying that production would be shifted to Fiat's Poland plant located in Tychy. The Toluca plant has been the home of the North American Fiat 500 since its debut in 2010. It was widely speculated by the press...

Having a degree in product design and always comment on how I would do it or what I would change.
In the spirit of keeping the three buttons on the middle dash, I would make the left a remote start button, keep the hazard in the middle and the right one be the passenger airbag indicator.
move the fog light to the left stalk, the sport button next to the gearshift and rear defogger on the climate controls.
...I drew this out somewhere, too.
FCA, if you are reading this, PM me! LOL

I seriously doubt that it will imported next year. NAFTA negotiations are up in the air and gas prices haven't been increasing all that much. Sales are also down. I hope that I am wrong, but my feelings contributed to me snapping up a 2017 model.

I wonder if fiat will add safety package to the 500(like lane departure warning) or maybe update the features? What do you think they should/ would like for them to add? Not things like I want my car to have a microwave. Someone make a comment on my YouTube.

I recently drove a vehicle equipped with those kinds of features... they are horrible. I don't want to see Fiat or Abarth take the driver further out of the equation. Those lane departure features are for people more interested in their smart phones than what the car is doing on the road.

This car did not have a Micro Wave but she does have a coffee pot.

But didn't I see somewhere that NA requirements as of 2018,cars in the US have to have a back up camera. I know this new one I have has some kind of back up recognition sensors in the rear bumper.

Closing in on the end of January 2018 and the FIAT USA website is still showing 2017 models. Definitely going to be a weird year for FIAT.

Back up sensor and/or camera is one thing... as long as it can be discreetly designed in. Lane Sense is robotized driving (yuck) and Lane Watch, while good for watching the bike lane and motorcycle traffic, makes it difficult to balanced-design in an extra camera. I trust Giolito's team would completely redesign the mirror assemblies to hide it if they added one.

I am hoping for good things, but I cashed my chips in early and went for a 2017 Abarth.

BUT...are they going to produce a non-Abarth 500C turbo with auto trans....that's the burning question for me!

Picked up the last '17L from our dealer a couple of weeks ago. Saw a Trekking '18L; but nothing there to entice me to spend much closer to MSRP for essentially the same car.

BTW...the bumper to bumper warranty is now listed as THREE YEAR, powertrain covered for FIVE....INteresting!!!

What is the source of this comment? The 'Brand Saver' Brochure that was posted awhile back still shows 4 years 50,000 miles for the warranty.

It was on the Monroney sticker...center bottom as usual. I didn't think to take a pic as I was basking in the glory of my own FOUR year/ 50k warranty
Surprised the salesman who was seeing the car for the first time, also.

Here is the link to one of the 2018 500L Pops the local FIAT dealer has...it still says 4 years 50,000 miles.

      Yep, sure does show that!
IF I get a chance, I'll drop by and get a pic of the sticker on that L.
Speaking of stickers, a POP for 24.5 thousand???? Dang

ETA: I looked at the stickers on the Ls they have on your link...good ole 4 year warranty. Now, I REALLY want to go back to our dealer to get a look!

Looks like the on-line listing for the Blue Trekking L I was speaking of shows the "sticker" with the usual warranty info...4 years.
I know the sales dude and I weren't dreaming when we saw and discussed the information on the actual sticker in the window of the L. Very strange!

Indeed, while this doesn't prove my sanity, it does mean I wasn't hallucinating when I reported the 3 year warranty info on the window sticker.
However, the fresh new sticker INside the vehicle does show the typical 4 year base warranty. Very strange...Attachment 29292Attachment 29293
