I Bought the Base Abarth on Purpose

My Abarth is absolutely the base model. Not one option. And I am absolutely happy and thrilled. My baby runs "like a bat out of hell".

Two and a half months. 1000 miles.

The car is so fast, it almost scares me. Make that: Does scare me.

It is solid as a rock.

My fourth Fiat, and obviously, I am an old man, 61, to be exact.

    My Abarth hauls.

My 1984 Fiat Spider 2000 is nicer looking, but this Abarth is shocking in its performance.

    Congratulations, Fiat. Job well done.

I too have a base model, with just one option the seats. Other than that nothing else. Sunroof? Never use them. I had 3 cars with them, and I don't think I opened them more than once or twice. Stripes and mirror covers added weight. Climate control? I can turn a couple of controls and push a button. I'm 63, so I too am old, but I'm very treacherous. The car is almost scary in sport mode, and not too shabby in regular mode.

Almost there, I have the auto A/C and Mirror caps w/ stripes.
You must have owned a lot of turds for this car to be scary fast to you, 160HP? Meh.
Mirrors and Stripes add weight? I'd buy the not worth $350 argument but no way in hell is a pound of plastic going to affect you in any way.

I have a 100% base too, and no stripes/colored caps. I wanted base w/ climatronic because the dials felt less "cheap" than the base AC controls but at the end of the day i really dont care. My AC does not feel all that cold though. Other than that, the car is amazing. Like you said, drives like a bat out of hell and constant WANTS to go fast!!

100% happy with my decision. Oh and im 23

Yup. A lot of turds. My first car was a wimp. A 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 with 117 hp. All went downhill after that. The girls at my Catholic Academy were more impressed with the human spirit than a 400 HP Lexus. ROFL

Probably will be the last car I buy (other than a truck) so I wanted it loaded. sunroof, stripes, comfort options. (auto a/c is awesome!) beats, and heated leathers. Love driving this car, but I think my neighbors are getting a little irritated with my romping down the road at 7 am.

Exactly how much weight do the mirror caps + stripes add? I was under the impression that the mirror caps are a replacement for the factory body colored ones that would be on the car if you opted to not have that option. So only weight gain I could see would be from the vinyl stripes which I couldn't imagine weighs all that much.

At least 10 kilos I reckon...along with significant impacts to aerodynamic efficiencies, particularly in sub sonic mode. Not
