    Post Silicone Piping - Silicone Air Charge Pipe Part 1

    Hey guys, ordered a silicone elbow for the aircharge pipe. The portion thats like 3" away from the downpipe lol. Anyways did some measurements, ordered a ** 2.5" - 90 deg - 2" ** Diameters. The length is 7 5/16" of each "leg"

    There reason its a reducer is because if you look at the picture the stock pipe has a neck 3" outer diameter and 2" inner diameter. We eliminate this boost leak prone neck, and we need an inner diamter measurement for propper fitting.

    Hope it fits... the stock tubing is weird (where the charge pipe connects to the intercooler piping) there is a 2.5" nib. Hopefully the silicone piping goes over it... or hopefully I'll have enough meat of clamp the silicone pipe behind it.

    ** use this for informational purpose until I do the install** I wouldnt want anyone ordering the wrong diameters.

    I'd recommend T-Bolt clamps on charge pipes instead of worm drive.

    your right... the worm drive may shred up the silicone? Did not even think of that. Used what I had lol, I need to go to autozone later today.

    Good idea, thanks for sharing. Have you noticed any change in drivability?

    The worm drive clamps aren't awful, it's just the T-bolt clamps are better. They offer more uniform clamping force and like you said they'll take care of the silicone better.

    I only took her for a spin around town, perhaps one may notice a slight difference on high boost especially in an Abarth. I'll try to get some highway runs in soon, been a busy week. Although, in theory, the transition from intercooler pipe to charge pipe should be smoother and less turbulance. The intercooler pipe is 2" which dropped straight in to a 3" charge pipe. This set up allow a more gradual 2" to 3" transition within the charge pipe. Its just an obvservation of the connection, so I could be totally wrong about airflow disruption.

    So over the course of owning the car things have been going great. I have been seeing and holding higher boost levels as the mods build up and do their work.

    Next item / items on the list is replacing the stock IC piping.
    The same connection I complained about on the "charge pipe" I see on the Main intercooler connections. I have not yet purchased silicone pipes to replace yet. BUT what i have done was removed the stock piping and replaced it with the same type of 'radiator type hose' for now. Although its not as good as silicone, it is equal to what the stock piping was but without the leaky end connections.

    This picture shows the passenger side intercooler connection when I had my front bumper off I didnt take a picture of the end product because it got too dark, but just imagine what a standard hose with clamps looks like. No "invented" connections.

    Keep it simple and boost leak free.

    Sfh, I applaud you on this one. I know there have been several of us wanting to replace the stock IC piping/charge piping with silicone. Seems like a no brainer

    Replaced all mine when I did my FMIC ... Not a fan of that type of connector .. So tossed the pipes out the garage cuz they weren't worthy enough to b in it ... Local speed shop had silicone hoses that I salvaged to work great
