This should help assure the 500L a place in many homes!

I love the way Fiat is bringing in autos to US/Canada. It's got to be tough, especially that first decision to bring in the 500 and open dealerships across the nation. Can you imagine the financial stake in bringing over a car that no one has? And all the surveys or estimates on whether or not it will sell before hand could be totally wrong. You just don't know what will happen until it's out there, available, and see if people will part with their money.

Then comes the 500L, which will address the needs of more people. Especially with the tumbling back seats. So useful!

The twin A-pillar design looks like a winner in the crash tests. And is reminiscent of vent/wing windows.

I wish these had been around when I was a kid, and my parents had bought one. Open and airy and would have made sense for those long trips. Lots to look at with all that window space. Always felt like us kids had been crammed in the trunk, considering the lack of windows in the back in the Mustang or the Camaro.

Looking forward to seeing the L around, especially in the lively colors.

i was selling minis when the countryman came out, they advertised the crapollo out of it. super bowl, prime time, we had so much traffic, couldnt even handle the test drives, and could not give them away.!! no one was buying them. had 15 or 20 just sitting there for months, but little by little they took off, and now very sucessful, ya never know!!

Yeah, I didn't like the Countryman when it came out either. It was confusing, in that it was a "Mini" that wasn't really "mini". I think some folks will have the same problem with the 500L. Looking at it, it's not a "500". It bears some resemblance, but it's a different car.

On the other hand, it sure makes changing to a four-door much easier if you are already familiar with the two-door version. Or adding a four-door to the household. You already love your 500, adding the 500L would be sooooo easy.

April apparently. Now whether that means studios will have Ls on site and able to test drive or if that is when the order banks will be opened is anyones guess.

The cars are still in the pre-production stage, so that is why they generally aren't open at the auto show and only a few get to check them out. I was given access to one at Detroit which left a bunch of journalist asking the show people why I got to check it out. They told them I was with Fiat. LOL

Sometimes there are changes or handles, etc, that aren't finalised.

Below is an image of the trunk of a pre-production Fiat 500. Notice the un-carpeted seat backs. This was deemed too unfinished for the North American market and was changed. If the general public was allowed to view that at car shows, it would have given a false first impression, so that is why they are careful with the previews.

I've heard that too, but I have also heard early SUMMER and April is NOT summer, it's early to mid spring in Georgia and Florida. I'm waiting with bated breath for a Trekker to magically appear in my LS's showroom! Apparently in Europe that is the 'Pop Star', lol.
