    Going to Europe

My son is doing a semester abroad and is in London. We'll be visiting hem for Thanksgiving and will have an opportunity to go to the Fiat dealership there. Does anyone know of any items on the Euro spec cars that are desirable? Two things I want to see about are an auto dimming inside mirror and window switches that go up as well as down with one touch. I would assume that there is a power source somewhere in the roof near the electric sunroof area to connect the mirror. I would also hope that if they do have window switches that they will fit the US models.

    Anyone have any input?

Sounds like a great way to spend a Thanksgiving! The US and the European cars use a different window switch. Below is a pic:

The auto up may not be in the switch, it may be part of the programming. And it is dangerous without a limit switch to stop the window if there is something blocking it, like a body part.

The wiring for the auto dim is not there. There is a thread over on the other forum about adding a Gentex auto dim mirror. You need switched power and if there is anything else in the mirror, like compass or Homelink, you need unswitched power.

Thanks for the info Fiat500USA and Pinecone (I assume it is not pronounced "pinecone" like the conifer seed but "Peen-eh-cone-eh"). I've been realizing that our cars are very different from the Euro cars. Besides looking similar, they are very different (chassis, engine, etc). Thank goodness they share the most important element. FUN TO DRIVE!
I'll confine my shopping to cosmetic items. Ill just look around, be a good tourist, and revel in the fact that we can finally have as much fun as our Euro counterparts.
If anyone know of any desirable items that we can't get here, please drop me a line.

Recently in Vienna and stopped by an Abarth dealership. Appreciated looking at the 595 model and what great seats with sabelt! As for purchasing anything the few things they had were way over priced, 590 euros for a jacket, and my thoughts were much better products and pricing from 500 madness!

I just got back from Rome, and purchased two sun visors. I hate the safety stickers on our US ones. As far as the auto windows, this can easily be done with a variety of window modules available at any car stereo shop.Attachment 3887

    Hey Capoblanco,

I can't give you any advice on Fiat parts. I work for a major airline and go to Europe quite often. There are many Fiat dealerships in London. One thing I will advise you to do is bring plenty of US brochures on the Fiat Abarth they love that and it will gain you some footing to get assistance at the dealership. Enjoy your trip.

You can do a little early research from their website. Note that the site is very slow Stateside, but most of it works eventually.
