USB Storage Device and getting the footage that you thought was lost

The USB drives actually DID capture everything. To get to the good stuff though, there's a bit of work.

I registered on the Race Keeper Website Click Here and downloaded the Race-Keeper Comparo executable on a windows based system.

After installing the software, you'll obviously launch the application on the windows system. When it prompts you to check for updates, put an SD card in the SD card slot of your Windows computer. Hit the "yes" button and let the software go out and grab the latest updates.

I'm going to say restart your system just to get a clean slate. Once you've done that, launch the Race Keeper Comparo application.

Insert the USB Storage Device provided by the Abarth Driving experience guys. From the "File" dropdown, choose "Import Outings from USB or SD".

Select the device you just inserted (All of you pervs just stop, we're doing real work here!)

Wait a couple of minutes while the software basically indexes all of the available video on the USB device.

ALL of your video is there and available. Select a clip and choose "IMPORT". when it's done importing, select the next clip you'd like to import. Don't be scared when you see two screens. Race-Keepers technology actually imbeds two different camera feeds in one HD clip. You'll be fine.

After you have imported all of the footage that you absolutely love, you now get to have fun...

Go to OPEN and select the segment or session that you'd like to run out to a video file. Once it loads (Give it about 30 seconds or so to settle down), go to "FILE" and select "EXPORT".

Again, wait about 30 seconds for everything to settle down... You are now presented with a screen with a multitude of options. Just go back to "File" and select "Export".

From the Export window, choose what gauges you wish to be shown, and use drag-and-drop to position those gauges on the screen (You are presented with two camera shots)... Don't be scared, just play with a bit. The Race-Keeper application is ALOT of fun. Always use "Hi Quality" on your exports and you'll be fine.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR iMac Users running Final Cut Pro...

To fully unlock the HD capablities of the resulting MPEG file, you want to wash it through a product called Mpeg Streamclip. It's a free download and can do wonders on files like these. Just Google MPEG StreamClilp and you'll run right into the download needed.

More info to come... I'm still working on this and trying to figure out the best way to present the highest quality video output.

I took the footage from the Race-Keeper MPG and washed it through MPEG StreamClip. I then loaded the clips up into Final Cut Pro. I let Final Cut Pro render out the clip optimized for YouTube and posted it. Here is the resulting clip from the shootout portion of the program.

I hope so!! I worked HARD for that one!

When I saw how tight that autocross course was, i was thinking "This won't be fun"... I was wrong. That was an absolute hoot to pitch the car on. On the shootout, apparently Stop-Boxes and Shagnabarth don't work well together. I think I blew them out 3 times on the first box after the drag.

I'm talking with some folks on the other forum about a possible track day at TGprix road course. We'll see how much interest is generated and roll from there.

I guess I should've checked my hair before that LOL! I think it's awesome that all three of us were covered by less than a half second.

Thank you for posting this! I could view all of my videos (with VLC), but having the software makes all the difference in exporting them.
