Fiat 500 Standard Radio Converted to Fiat Sirius Satellite Radio.

Has anyone converted their standard radio to a Fiat Sirius satelite radio. I am in the process of converting over. I obtained a used Fiat Sirius radio with low miles and obtained a generic Mopar statellite radio wiring harness with Fakra end connectors and a Fiat Mopar satellite antenna base that replaces the standard antenna base. As far as I see the main wiring harness and existing radio electrical connectors should be the same. Has anyone tried to convert over yet other than installing an aftermarker sirius radio.

I purchased a New 2012 with standard radio and ask to have the radio upgraded to Sirius. Initially they said yes at a cost of $650.00. Outcome though is cannot be done without rewiring the whole car they said. so it was a no go for me. I had to add an add on to finally get Sirius in the 500. Routed into the FM on a certain station, no visual to be seen on screen ( as to artist, song etc only channel #).

The STANDARD radio is NOT Sirius capable. That comes with the Comfort and Convenience Package. And for 2013 you can get Sirius WITH or withOUT the upgraded Beats Audio Pkg.

I have also checked with the parts dealer in Fiat and the wiring harness for power and speakers is the same with the exception of the Satellite wire. The Sirius radio looks the same in the back with the exception of an added port for the satellite antenna connection. Additionally, the original antenna and the sateliite antenna are different and also need to be changed. The Satellite antenna has two wires coonecting to it. One for standard radio and the second for the satellite wire. Also the 500c is different because it does the have the antenna on the roof. Insttead it has the antenna in a grid on the winshield and also includes an amplifier to compensate for a lack of an aerial. Other than that the systems appear to be the same.

Just curious how this turned out, if it turned out. I wasn't able to get my Abarth with Sirius and miss it like crazy. I'd prefer to have the Fiat head unit and not an after market one.
