Cool My Build Thread - FIAT 500 Abarth - Rosso

Creating a place holder for my future mods, work on the car, or anything that comes up related to my daughter's car. Just something I do with all my cars... So here it goes.

Bought the car on April 28, 2012 at Fields FIAT in Orlando, FL with 8 miles on the odometer

    The car:
2012 FIAT 500 Abarth in Rosso

    Option list:
    Safety and Convenience Package
Performance Leather Trimmed High-Back Bucket Seats
Mirror Cap Black with Body Side Stripes
    Power Sunroof
    TomTom Navigation

    The deal:
    MSRP: 25,900.00 + 389 + TTT
Two Abarth shirts, two Abarth caps

A few photos before the changes began:

This, our first, Abarth is for my daughter. So this will be a boring thread since we do not plan to make many mods... but, if I can't contain myself and start modding this car here is the list of potential changes:

    1. 17" CIAO or Magneti Marelli, or Abarth 695 Tributo Genuine Alloy Wheels
    2. Brembo Big Brake Kit
    3. Short Shift Kit
    4. Tinted side windows and sunroof with 3M Crystalline Film
    5. Scorpion decals (done)
    6. Magneti Marelli or Mopar 200hp upgrade
    7. Fuel locking gas cap
    8. Abarth Fuel Door
    9. Full set of Abarth 500 SS Floor Mats
    10. Cargo liner
    11. Abarth 500 Leather Tailgate Strap
    12. Abarth Genuine Key Cover in Red or Red with the Italian flag colors, or Black, or...
    13. Something in leather with the Italian flag colors on it... still trying to decide on what...

Very nice. Most of the early cars seem to be black, nice to see a red one.

Great pictures. I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what color to change my order to.. White with red stripes or red with black stripes.

Now that you have the car is there anything about the order you would have changed? Wheels, options or colors?

Why the Brembo brake kit, are you intending to do some track driving?

Change... I think I would have gone with the same options. I still do not have the TomTom (waiting on delivery of the unit), that is the only thing I was undecided to order or leave out...

Wheels - I had no saying on those. My daughter likes those 16" wheels. Me? I would have gone with the 16" as well but only to change them later for one of the options that I put on the list above.

On the brake kit... I have to be honest, it is just for looks... Everyone has reported good results with the stock units... I did the same in my 964... vanity, I know... I do plan to track it as much as time permits, but really, looks like stock units will be fine for what I intend to do with it...

    Thank you.

I had to indulge myself and made the most frivolous purchase...

Also ordered the rear floor mats... four passenger car, no rear mats from the factory, that is just nuts... oh well...

And the rear cargo mat just to get the shipping discount...

As you all know, when FIAT certified our cars (with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)?) they did so without the cover in the plug for the diagnostic reader...

Because of this, the dealer delivers the cars but not before pulling the cover off the plug, as they would be in violation and selling a non-certified vehicle...

If you go to your service area you are very likely to find a box with hundreds of these plugs... but they can't give you one.

I was able to sneak in the service area, locate the box, grab one, and ran out of the service department. Luckily, I was not caught in my illegal act and lived to drive another day...
