Abarth in the "wild" (aka Spotter Thread).

Just want to start this thread in anticipation of spotting other Abarthists.

I spent most of my money on fast cars, guitars and pretty women. I somehow managed to waste the rest of it.

I can't snap photos while driving but I have already seen two on the road here in Rhode Island. I was amazed; I didn't think any had made it this far north yet. But they were actually "owned" cars because they had registered passenger car plates on them. Here in RI you can tell the length of time that someone has owned a registration by the plate numbers. Low number plates are a 'thing' here.

One of the Abarths had the older style registration number (two digit, three number...XX-XXX) and the other car had the newer style registration (XXX-XXX). If one sees the newer style in a high number (beginning with 9) it is usually a rental car.

Both had the stupid black dealer logo plate frames but not the stuck on chrome label from my local Studio, so I don't think they came from there.

Had they been dealer demos they would have had red, green, yellow or blue plates. But these were the white ones, so real life owners. Wonder who they were?

Both cars were black/red stripe/mirrors with the dark wheels - (are they dark grey?) - and they were 'real' - as they had the correct front and rear fascia AND I heard the exhaust as they took off. They look like so much fun -

You know, I don't recall if it was RI specifically but I do remember a quick news snip about such a phenomenon where low number plates were such a commodity that people were auctioning off old plates that had been in the family for insane amounts of money.

The sales brochure forgot to mention that Abarth ownership may bring out one's narcissistic personality
