    Heated Seats...5 Speed manual....No options??

This topic has probably been discussed before. I assume that if you want a Fiat 500 in any model with a 5-speed you cannot get heated seats. My wife won't consider buying a car without the seat warmers, and we both do not want an automatic transmission. Anyone else had the same issue? Other options?

You can get a dealer installed heated seat kit for any of the 500's that do not come factory equipped with them. I know of at least one of our members that had these installed along with a katzkin leather kit and was very pleased with the results.

as 'unknown' said, there's a couple on the forums that have had the "aftermarket" seat heaters installed. personally, I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. for FIAT to NOT offer the heated seat option on a 5sp, there must be a reason. don't know if it draws too much juice and with the 5sp at idle, there's no compensation for the added load, causing issues or if its something else. but if the FIAT engineers, that get paid way more than I, feel there's a reason, then that's good enough for me.

as for the automatic, I initially wanted a 5sp.....then I had some foot issues pop up, so I started thinking long-term and decided on the 6sp auto. but now that I have it, I like the auto and well, the heated seats were just an added bonus! at first I could have cared less for them but after using them just once, I was hooked!

I suggest that you look at the 6sp auto and give it a test drive. don't be afraid to drive it either. I've read reports that is is slow, sluggish, etc....but not MINE! so don't be afraid to put your foot in it and it will respond!

I don't believe there would be an engineering reason for this as the transmission in the automatic would have to be electronically controlled as well which means that it would already have a higher electrical load than the 5 speed. The only issue I've noticed is that the "ESC off" button in the 5 speed occupies the space used for the seat heater button on the automatic.

That being said, I'm not an engineer so bear that in mind.

The official Mopar heated seat kit was supposed to be available in November but it is still not available.

It has an auto-stick shifter. Its lots of fun, but I rarely use it. Only when I'm feeling frisky! LOL! While a manual is fun, I prefer the automatic. Just lazy I guess!

Heated Seats are on my modification list after the Armster and stereo upgrades.

The heated seats are listed on the Mopar/Fiat catalog as part # 82212342 MSRP $299.

Not sure if you also need a wiring harness and buttons. I also saw the issue with the ESC button. I figure I will relocate that button to the lower right spot upside down. I will check with availability the next time I go to my Local Fiat Dealer's Parts Dept.

the PN above does come up in the Mopar Parts system, but is a "Vendor Ship Direct" part and is shown to have a 'new model reference' block on it right now. that means that the part has not been released from the supplier and Mopar is not accepting orders for the part.

don't hold your breath on this one.
