So my awesome Automatic 500 just gave up. I unlocked my car with the key fob, loaded up my tool and went and parked the work truck. Come back to the car and turn the key and nothing. When the key is released I get a flashing P and the beeping sound and of course the key is locked in the ignition. I googled how to remove the key and after taking apart the steering column I got the key out. The shifter is stuck in Park, I can over ride it and put the car in any gear I want. I pulled the battery and tray to look at the bushing on the end of the cable but it is there. The actual transmission shifts along with the cable. I also disconnected the transmission computer and made sure the plug wasn't corroded and hooked it back up. I also replaced the brake switch as it was cheap and easy to replace. The car will not lock and unlock with the key fob, nor will the back hatch open. I bought new a new battery for the key fob just as a precaution.
I'm guessing the car doesn't know it is in Park. Maybe the transmission computer? Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks!
