The Fiat 130 - The big boy

One of the things that killed Fiat 130 sales was the timing of its introduction. From 1969, Italy descended into turmoil with huge labor issues, social unrest and violence. Conspicuous displays of wealth like a flashy car invited kidnapping or even death. The non-descript dark blue paint used on Fiats at the time was popular so your car could blend in and not stand out. To the point, the president of Italy's car my friend had was painted in this somber dark blue. The music may have been good in the 70s, but it could be a rough time to live.

Good point Chris those were unsettled times in Italy. Even Enzo Ferrari chose a Fiat 128 to drive to work.

Nice find. According to Al Cosentino, Ferrari's car was modified with twin Webers and Ferrari told him the car had "molto accelerazione"

The 128 could be turned into a screamer - literally - with a 10K plus redline. Al Cosentino once brought a crank and flywheel to a shop to get balanced and the factory parts were perfectly balanced when checked for 10,000 rpms. Not bad for 1973.

Ferrari also had other cars he drove. I know he had a 130 Coupe and some others that I can't remember now.
