    When a blow-out is a good thing

Monday mornings are sometimes more difficult, I drove over a rock that split a Michelin Pilot Sport +3 with 35k miles on the front right wheel (serous curb rash) Fortunately my new spare was mounted on a new matching wheel.

Decided it was time to R&R the Michelins, purchased three new Pilot Sport +3s, mounted and balanced, took the best used tire and mounted on the curb rash wheel as a spare.

Result: 4 new Pilot Sport +3 AS replaced the curbed wheel, restarted the clock on tire wear.

Yes, the Michelins are that good..

Best tire for the car. Worth the extra cost.

Sorry to hear about that, but it seems you made lemonade out of a lousy event. Nothing like a new set (of good) tires. Thanks for the tip.

Noted about the Michelins! I currently have Generals that replaced the stock Firestones. They've been good to me so far but always looking for more data.

Cool. I'd love the Michelin brand but can't find any that fit. Is there an extra designator on the tire like ZP? Maybe Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP, their run flat tire?

I ask because TireRack shows the 3+ only in 20 and 21".

Michelin 205/45ZR17 Pilot Sport A/S 3+ fits. I've used them ever since the OE Pirelli's wore out at 18K miles. Currently on my 3rd set at 81K miles. The Michelin warranty is great.
