2023 Abarth 500e synthetic exhaust note

What does everybody think, on the new 500e
    having a ICE exhaust generator
    sound on an electric car.

If it sounds as good in person, then awesome-sauce!

IMHO it's fake. Like carbon fibre on an expensive car fake. Or a huge wing on a 86 Hyundai Excel fake. It will always be called out as fake by enthusiasts. Maybe when the technology matures enough to make sense owning, but right now it's impractical. It is even more of a toy than our cars. A 30K€ + toy that you'll be lucky to get 160 miles out of before the batteries deteriorate. It is at best a third car to knock around in.

Toyota is doing gas, hydrogen, electric and everything else. They are smart not to alienate their customers. Stellantis is dumb to piss their fans off. A lot of people don't want or can't do electric, but they can't say anything or they will get attacked on social media.
2013 Abarth in need of mods!

‘Enthusiasts’ take all the fun out of life…lol.
If electric is inevitable, then I’ll embrace it until I hear it in person…

Some on the road video. "Exhaust" sound at the 3 minute mark. There is also an interesting guitar sound, too.

Not being a purist or a gatekeeper I believe when I say.... No. Just no. It's not about "purity" or anything like that. It's the mere fact it's 100% fake without any purpose, rhyme or reason. This goes beyond fake quad exhaust tips with a single pipe to the back (which EVERY car does now)...

If you like an electric Abarth - fine more power to ya (electric power that is). I'm sure it'll be fun, and if I could afford the 2x+ price tag, AND it came to the US, AND I somehow had a way to charge electric at my apartment (which I don't and won't anytime in the next decade), then sure I'd own one.

But that fake exhaust not? Nothing more than a gimmick that will remind you every day that you're NOT driving a gasoline powered vehicle.

No exhaust shifting points, no exhaust popping noises.
