USB CD player?

I use a USB thumb drive to listen to some of my ripped music though I will never ripp all of my CD's; life is too short. Has anyone tried a USB CD/DVD player? Something like this. I should just order one and just return it if it does not work.. .

Seems to me it would be easier to just rip them to WMP and then move them to a thumb drive. Don't have to do all them all at once, and you're not constantly swapping disks, or storing them in your car.

I rip my CDs to FLAC and I buy a fair bit of hires music in FLAC format as well. I think it's the best choice for quality (lossless) and file size. that said, I have a cd/dvd player in my head unit and I like having the ability to play CDs and also music from flash drive. Why not go ahead and try out the cd player, especially if it fits in the glove box?

I just tried this with my USB CD/DVD player in my 2016 Easy with Uconnect 5.0. Everything seemed to be OK at first. Deck lit up and accepted the CD. When I went to press the Media button the screen displayed "Device not supported" and automatically went back to radio. It would not even stay in Media mode. Good idea though.

Agreed. I use my computer's internal drive and an external drive. I'd pop in a couple CDs and start them ripping then go do something else. IIRC, I paid around $25 for my USB CD player, then saw one at the thrift store for $12.

When I started the garage remodel, I tossed a couple large grocery sacks of CDs. Not even Goodwill wanted more CDs. Now I wish I'd held onto them but they just take up too much space.

Haven’t played a CD in over, 14 years. We have older Apple iPod, loaded with tunes USB. In all our vehicles.
The only car we have with Apple Car play is the Accord. Life too short to play around with CD’s. When on vacation, renting
Cars, There close to 2k worth of music on my iPhone. Bluetooth, or USB.

It is a home based player (computer use). It specifies it needs a stable surface so I knew it was no good for mobile use.

That's about right for me, too. I had a lot of good music, though... Jr Wells, Buddy Guy, Sonny Boy Williams, John Lee Hooker, et al. Not to mention Heywood Banks.

I tried my Pioneer USB portable Bluray/DVD/CD also but that was a no go.

I think I'm going to order one of the android based USB portable CD/DVD player and see what happens. I have so many CD's that it's not worth my time to rip everything: especially music that I listen to infrequently.

I'll let you know if/how it works out.
