Big Turbo and Downpipe

Hi Guy's, I just installed a big turbo and catless downpipe and Toby is sending me a new tune in a few weeks. I have a check engine light because of the catless downpipe and it's a little loud for me. Will the new tune take care of the check engine light for the new catless downpipe and what would you do to quiet the exhaust down?

I could see that, since the cat is much of the muffling for an Abarth. (The other bit is the T in the exhaust pipe.)

There are kits you can buy (Walker, Magnaflow, etc) that installs a muffler in an axle-back setup. There are other outfits who make a cat-back muffled system and/or owners cut/install their own. My favorite might be the Magneti Marelli system, which has a cut-out; muffled for daily driving or straight thru for "race car".

I found a thread on 12" and 18" Vibrant resonators, that my also tone it down. Appreciate any and all help.

The tune will take care of it only if you asked Toby to delete the code.

Keep in mind, depending on if you are in an emissions area, and how your area checks for emissions, it may or may not pass emissions even with a deleted code.

As far as the noise, you're on the right track to add a resonator.

Myself, I didn't like the smell / smoke you get from catless so switched to a 200 cell ATP high flow cat. Not as loud either.

I tied the 18" Vibrant resonator with the TMC catless downpipe and was too loud at 2-3,000 rpm. Now I installed the MagaFlow muffler and it sounds so much nicer all the way thru the power band. Toby is sending me the new tune, so I should have it next week.

Yussss. I strongly recommend starting with a magnaflow round muffler first, just leave some room for a resonator down the road.

Hopefully you can record some audio for others to hear. I’ve had good feedback from the various exhaust setups I’ve had.
