Nice series 1 sport coupe. A rare car in the US. Not many made it past 10 years in the US. The ones that did, were bought back for rust. Lime Rock has some great cars showing up there. They never actually made an Abarth 124 coupe, there was just an Abarth Spider, so this is more of a tribute car. Putting Abarth emblems on and maybe some Abarth pieces was common practice back then.
The Fiat Abarth 124 Rally is a beast of a car. Besides a killer engine, the car has a totally new suspension including an independent rear, which is the tell-tale if the car is genuine.

Thanks Chris I wasnt sure if this was factory or not. The wheels look like Cromodora. Interesting color for a 124 coupe. My 1974 124 spider was bought back for rust. I bought it for $2200 dollars and 2 yrs later Fiat bought it back for $2000 in around 1980. I bought it to a local Lincoln Mercury dealer where there was a Tech from Fiat wearing a white coat. He put my 124 on a lift and knocked the shock towers with a hammer and watched the rust fall out. He then told me I could take the engine out and just give them a rolling chassis. I gave them the whole car. I was thinking of your 124 coupe when I posted this pix. Yes the Historics are a ton of fun every September.
My only two mods were Western Wheels and an ANSA exhaust.

Wow, a 1974 124 Spider. That's the ultimate Spider in many eyes. Small bumpers and the biggest carb make it a favorite.
It's sad that cars as little as 4 years old were bought back. I remember seeing mint looking cars at the dealer waiting to be crushed.
The inspection process was wild. A hammer or screwdriver in certain places on the chassis and the car was totaled.
Even with that, it is amazing that Fiat says there were still 8,000 spiders registered in the US as of 2015. i think I see more Fiats than Vegas or Pintos around. At least around here.
I also have a warm spot for Renaults and I saw something published in the renault USA club saying there was only something like 195 on the road still. Hard to believe that, and even it is more than that, it is still not many.
