I bought a Fiat 500 2door hatchback a couple of yeas ago. Developed a problem with the rear hatch not opening and traced the problem down to a wiring issue. At some point the previous owner must have had problems given the number of splices i have found in the wiring. Anyway the part of the harness going to the plate lamps and hatch release had an issue and they cut the connector off and made a make shift connector to plug into the wires in the hatch handle. I have tried a few things myself without luck and there is not enough wire in the hatch handle to cut the connector and get a connector set.
Does anyone know where i can get a replacement harness for the hatch itself or find pigtail connector replacements?
I'm sorry to hear that. If the replacement that smark shows (under $60 on Ebay) doesn't do the trick, there are a couple options that come to mind. I read that the Ebay kit is longer than factory, something Fiat fixed somewhere in the 2013 models.
It appears that the factory deck wiring is no longer availabe at online sites. Maybe check with the dealer or, failing that, check with wrecking yards. You'll probably still have to splice up in the headliner, but all will be hidden from view.
If that fails, then it's probably time to splice. I think the wires in the deck lid are two diameters from my short journey into the area. If you splice one wire at a time there won't be any confusion and some shops (or home improvement centers) will sell wire by the foot... or Amazon sells multi-color kits at a reasonable price if you want a life-time of wire on hand. The also sell shrink wrap if you choose to solder the wires.
