For you interested Amateur Radio Operators out there, I'm going to be installling a Kenwood NX-5800 UHF radio with a remote face, equipped with NXDN and DMR. I made a custom start-up screen containing every generation of Abarth logo. IMG_20220324_151225.jpg

I'm assuming he's saying he's going to detatch the display and extend it to a new location. My '78 GLC had similar but with a CB (very popular back then). The body was about the size of this ham radio, so I extended wiring and put the face plate beneath the radio... the rest was tucked away under the dash.
Yes, I'm remote-mounting the head. I have the Kenwood remote kit, already installed as shown. Thinking I'll mount the deck under the passenger seat, and the head on the dash next to the cluster (where the factory GPS normally sits, which I don't use).
There isn't a lot of mounting choices, but if you're willing to drill, it opens up the possibilities.

I'm familiar with the remote head units. I have one. His model of Fiat may have a different layout than mine. I'm trying to find room for my remote Sirius tuner.
