Best I can say is that you can check to see if the hatch is actually closed solidly. Sometimes the latch sticks and the wiring to the switch is known to break and cause the latch to work partially at times. That is what happened to me on my 2015 Abarth and I repaired it in about 20 minutes times.
Aside from that, you can check the bolts that retain the rear lights; just like above....one of mine were loose and one small turn of the nut and the rear stop light was tight again. Additionally, I might inspect the exahust system to ensure there aren't any "witness marks" indiciating contact with a chassis componenet.
Let us know how it goes!

Did anyone check to see if all the bolts are tight. I'd start with the three bolts between the body and axle assembly and work my way back. Check the axle to body bushings also.
Maybe I could ask for a bit more info. Does it require turning and hitting a bump (both) to make the noise? Are we talking a speed bump at 10+ mph? High speed cornering? Does it still have the original suspension? A new purchase that came with the noise... or it's been OK for years and it's just now coming on? (A new purchase might be accident damage from PO.)
If possible, I'd take a buddy along, windows down, and get it to make the noise. Try it with the fan blowing high and no fan. (Noise can travel thru the rear air vent.) If it makes the noise at low speed, maybe have the person stand outside the car and/or sit in the front and rear seat. (I've twice identified a noise coming from the wrong part of a car. Loose objects are another but my favorite was a tool left behind a body panel.)
If verified in the rear, putting it on a rack with wheels hanging might help ID it. Loose bolts (as sportfan said), jounce bumpers, missing/damaged spring isolators, and damaged axle mount bushings could be a cause. If it could be up front, there's lots of parts to check.
Coil springs knocking in their sockets. Make sure the rubber boots are still at each end of the coil springs.
I think the rubber boot idea is it. Ordered the rubber seat. Waiting for it to come in. Will advise.
I know I'm late to the party, but check that the sway bar hasn't shifted to the left. That will cause it to contact the lower control arm when hitting a bump. I had the same problem but with the driver's side. It's a bear but it is possible to get the bar re-centered.
