    Brakes squeaking

My brakes are squeaking on my 2016 Fiat 500X with 45000 miles. Does any one know how much a brake job shold cost ?

I do my own. Some places, charge 250-400 bucks per axle. You need to call around, for brake work.

Yes, probably that cost for labor but total cost depends on if they use factory parts or aftermarket and whether replacing the rears is required. They will probably want to replace pads and rotors. For factory parts, that will be around $450 (parts only, per axle). Aftermarket can be as good and half the price. I have had good luck with Centric's rotor/pad kit, about $150 for the front, $250 for all 4.

Look into EBC red stuff pads. Ceramic pads, nearly dustless

I had my mechanic do my brakes a couple years ago - he told me to go buy a brake kit. I bought a centric kit off of rockauto. When I showed up as his shop with it, he looked at me and said "next time Napa or Mopar." the centrics have been OK - one of the rotors has just like half a degree of runout on it and you can hear it sometimes at low speeds.

Napa or Mopar. Straight from my friend, a retired Chrysler MasterTech.

I think you just got lucky (in the bad way). I currently have akebono front rotors and centric rear rotors and they’re doing great event with the aggressive hawk HPS 5 pads and racing. Centric is the daily driver version of StopTech btw.

That's a good point on install. Many shops will only warranty if they install factory or NAPA parts because they can't rely on other suppliers. Good point, doverosx. I thought StopTech was just the full kit. The Ranger got a full set of StopTech because it sometimes has to stop a 3 ton trailer. I also replaced calipers and wheel cylinders, not because they looked less than perfect, but after 65K and 20 years, I was sure they wouldn't last thru another set of pads/shoes.

I was never sure if it was true, but back in the late 90's it was rumored some parts chains were selling clone parts of reliable names. The shop across the street said they got burned several times, saving the customer a few bucks then having to eat the job a second time. He said that's why they moved to NAPA. It's rare, such as when Ford no longer stocked the Ranger cruise control box, that he'll install other parts. (I found a NIB part on Ebay.)

Automotive repair shops favor all part supply store. Not just NAPA. ORiley, advance auto, Pep Boys etc. where ever the correct part, is available. No shop warrants brakes. A individual, can burn up a set of brakes, in a weeks. Ive seen it many times at the dealership, Ive worked at.
