I'm sure it's fine. Thinking about it, probably the biggest reason was I'm too cheap to go for it. Sounds like you got a good deal. If I didn't have an aftermarket spoiler, stripes and a an iffy OZ center cap, I would hit one up.

Fiat USA actually spent time when they redesigned the car so it could go through an American automatic car wash. One of the things I was told was the rear wiper on the European car would embarrassingly get bent and point to the ground after it emerged from a US car wash. They also added a rim protector on the wheel, too. The US car looks a lot like the European one, but it is a much more enhanced and improved version:

The 500 is a good shape for washing; can wash twice in the time it took to do my previous car. My former (Neon) would never come clean in a car wash. The body panel seams, spoiler and rear fascia were all hiding places for dirt even after 2 passes.

It'd be nice to have a clean car and only have to do it by hand a couple times a year.
