    Right,

But the factory DV leaks from the factory. Everyone who has purchased this part has stated far great driving dynamics and boost control. If the Wastegate holds and the DV does not, it's a start. I plan on tightening my wastegate if needed or go forge.

P006D from Madness ECU Piggy back but feels great
    TPMS Failure because of course
Front Drivers Side CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CFP Strut Hats on order
Missing Madness Heat Shield (Anyone got one)
Madness Pedal RULES but gives me the Red Lightning Bolt.
    Still love this car.

Do not adjust the OEM Wastegate (Length).
The PCM will figure out what you have done and adjust the boost algorithm/ Wastegate Signal/ TPS Signal accordingly to pull you back into factory spec.

The FORGE Diverter Valve Kit is the superior design to use if you want an upgrade.

The Wastegate controls how the boost pressure builds/ holds through the entire RPM range.
The FORGE Wastegate is the way to go, as you can swap springs to adjust your "base" boost pressure.

I run the FORGE DV Kit, FORGE WG and the EC Tune... never been happier.

Thank you for the suggestion! That's what I might end up doing. I thought I had a bone stock Abarth, and I won't mind making it so. I found that video while I was researching and its what made me confident I could do the swap myself. I'm eager to see what I find when I pull the GFB valve off the turbo.

Put the GFB DV on this afternoon. Access to the bolts isn't very easy but I have enough tools that I could accomplish the task without too much difficulty. Much smoother delivery now. Stops the boost yo-yoing as advertised. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade IMHO.

    Hey everyone!
I just wanted to say thanks for all the knowledge shared and advice. I got myself sorted with the Abarth, and I feel kind of , but it turns out a lot of my issue was user error. Yep. I'll explain, and hopefully it will help someone else down the line who doesn't know much about driving manuals or how Fiats work. So, it turns out that if you are in a high gear, at low RPMS, and you floor it, you're obviously not getting enough boost, and if it is severe enough, the ECU will trigger limp mode and limit your boost to about 6psi and not give you any more until you restart the car, since its not good to the engine. I got my Abarth back from the mechanic and he said they reset the CEL, and although he believed the diverter valve was leaking, the car seemed to be driving fine. Which was a contradicting statement to me, and bit confusing. But when I took my car for a spin on some backroads, I felt the boost get cut about half an hour in. I decided to restart and the car, and voila! All my boost came back. That told me it was an ECU issue and not a mechanical one. I researched it some and found some threads on this forum that explained that flooring it in the wrong gear at low speeds and rpms could trigger a P0299 underboost CEL if you did so two times within a short time of each other. I can't attest if that's exactly how its programmed to work (I have yet to read anything officially from Fiat concerning this) but it seems to fit my experience exactly. This was a few days ago, and so far, downshifting before gunning it has produced no CELs or not limp modes, just an excited, rev-happy Abarth. I'm so relieved! I do feel a bit stupid though. Live and learn I guess! I'd much rather I be the problem than having a bad diverter or turbo. The only mystery that remains is why the mechanic said that the diverter valve was leaking during the smoke test they conducted. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can tell me if my hypothesis is correct. I have the GFB diverter and blow off plate package, and I'm wondering if the blow off adapter plate is what made it look like it was leaking, since the sides are slotted. Could that be what the mechanic thought was leaking? Either way, I haven't run into any more issues, so I guess it doesn't matter all that much. Thanks again for all the help!

Flooring it in too high Gear and low Rpms can cause surge, not good. Down shift.

I tried to install my GFB BOV kit but couldn’t get to the bolts. Any advice?

Lugging the engine. Lugging is not good for the engine, the spark plugs, emissions, economy, engine temperatures, the piston lands, the piston decks, the valves, the oil,....you get it

it seems to also put us with this engine right in the range where it is want to shift between cam profiles, giving even more jerky throttling around a range a lower gear will have you in a passing mode. Keep it wound up for best performance, and performance on tap.

I'd say that's true in most cars, but the 500 is designed for lower RPMs. The car is ready to upshift at 2200+/- RPM, downshift at 1500, depending on throttle position... at least in my '18. As I understand it, that was part of the reason for the 500's variable intake timing.

If it is surging there's probably something wrong with the car?

if im doing boring driving i shift up at 3000-3500rpm, i down shift at 50mph into 4th, 40mph into third, 32mph into second..i dont usually ever downshift into first but i have at 16mph...(i cant heal toe btw thats why i worded it that way)

if im really going for it ill shift at 5500-6000 rpm...i really want to get a new upgraded clutch and flywheel before i drive the car like that anymore though..
