Here! That message came up the last time the dealership serviced my car. Like it does not Match the car’s original VIN#.

I think the VIN is also located under the carpet or trim panel in the passenger door. You might compare them. Also compare it to your title... and check that the dealer scanner is coming up with the proper number.

I mention that because a friend bought a new Chevy PU where the VINs didn't match, dash to body. I had a VIN on my '89 Hyundai that didn't match the dealer paperwork, so the title was entered into DMV incorrectly. They'd transposed 2 digits. (I found out when the DMV updated their software and it was no longer valid; took an hour at DMV to get it straightened out.) On my 500, I've noticed they have to manually type the number in. I think it could be having the same problem but it works when they manually enter the number.

My VIN is sitting under the windshield on the driver's side, best viewed from the outside (no need to look under the carpet true for my 2011 500 and my 2018 Abarth):. here must be more to this story and I missed it. Are you saying the dealer's records are hosed?

The vin number, is on the dashboard? What are you comparing the number to?

so the VIN number printed on my car (all locations) and title are the same, but for some reason after 4 years of owning the car (Feb 2020), when the dealership plugged in the reader the car was giving them a message saying that the car didn’t match with its original VIN number. I’m assuming old crow is having the same issue?

the car was out of warranty already by a few days and well I didn’t follow up on this. The car is fine. It will probably look suspicious when selling it.

Did you buy your 500X new. If so, if you still have the window sticker.Check the vin on it too. Did someone, switch out the cars CPU? What’s the vin number, on all your buyers paper work. How it’s licensed, and titled.

yes, brand new. And no, the car’s CPU has never been switched. The only work that’s been done to my car was regarding the Blind spot system, which the same dealership did. They only replaced modules though, but that message came up after they messed with it and stayed that way.

I personally wouldn’t worry about it. As long as the Vin number is correct on the dash board plate. The cars original title from Fiat, reflects the same Vin number. How it’s been licensed, and insured. I don’t think you’ll have any issues. Somethings not correct on how the Vin number. Was Inputted in the vehicles computer. That is really strange. There’s got to be a glitch someplace. You ought contact Fiat.
