    Hatch Issue

Hello, new owners here of a 2012 Abarth, I cannot unlock and open the rear hatch, I see the lights flicker when i press the hatch button on the remote but it does not open. Is there a manual way of opening .... what am I missing?

    Thanks in advance

There's a button to open the hatch right above the rear license plate.

The wiring harness, to the rear hatch, is broken. Your going to have to crawl back to the rear are hatch. Remove the hatch cover. Do this, when the hatch is closed.

take screw driver to the latch mechanism at the bottom, to open it. Then splice back to together the broken wires at the top of the hatch. If you can. Or replace them with a patch wires kit.

Pretty common issue on all the 500’s.

As it was built before mid-2013, I'm guessing your find that wiring harness frayed (as in smark's photo). There's a replacement harness available from Fiat for those models.

I'm still considering whether to install the safety release with handle.

Did you check out your wiring harness, going into the top of the rear hatch?

I did check the harness and it looks brand new, I tried to ohm out the switch itself and I get nothing...... I also tried to jump the with pins and got nothing as well, I do have 5.7 volts for the 2 tag lights (which are not working). Does anyone know if this latch release has a separate fuse? And a source for these replacement lights,

The tail lamps aren’t working either? How about the license plate lights? are they working? You checked the wiring harness going fro the top rear C pillared, to the top of the hatch. The wires aren’t Frayed or broken.
