Fiat killed the 124 Spider for good yesterday.

Also the 500L, which should be sent to landfills anyway.

This leaves Fiat with ONE model to sell, and no free standing studio can survive on that. Damn shame.

That is to bad.
I have often thought if I was going to have my own car lot I would want to sell FIAT but with a twist. Since I am retired I think I would approach it from a totally different angel. Find an old gas station, go with an old retro vibe. Have a coffee shop that sells cars. With FIAT basically gone from the US for new car sales would have the option to pick and choose what you sold. Not to worry it’s just a pipe dream.

The real question is when will Chrysler service centers turn us away because they won’t pay the license fee for a FIAT/Alfa trained tech?
Will they all be forced to service FIAT’s until four years after the last FIAT is sold from whatever lot it’s on now?
Will FCA expect/demand we drive 500 miles for warranty work?
Service’s future really has me perplexed...

I haven’t used a Fiat/FCA service department. For close to 5 years now. Any qualified automotive service center, can’t perform service, on a Fiat vehicle. Fiats are not a exotic car. Parts are available for each model up to 10 years. There are only a few FCA dealerships near me, the still offer the Fiat brand.

Near my old house, they was a FCA training facility. A couple miles my house. If Fiat pulls out of NA here, and your car is still under warranty. It might be hard, to obtain warranty work. If the brand dissolves here, it won’t be a cost affect means, for a FCA dealership. To Trained to Fiat service techs. Alfa, isn’t going away, there are separate dealerships for that brand.

When GM dropped Saturn, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile. Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac, was authorize to preform warranty work, on those discontinued brands.

If you feel uncomfortable of service on your car. You might want to sell it. I’m going on 10 now of ownership. The studio going away, don’t really concern me. I have a manufactures recall on transmission shifter, that’s need attention.

I have no doubt a ‘qualified’ tech can handle it, but yes, it’s warranty work that concerns me. I was going to purchase a four-year extension (Mopar) this week. I believe those mandate FCA dealership repair only. Guess I better pay for the ‘money-back’ version.

I would personal purchase a extended warranty. That will give you the flexibility, to have your vehicle serviced anywhere. FCA that services Fiat, or a good independent shops etc.

The difference between factory warranty and extended ones. Bumper to bumper. The factory one will take apart your car, and look for the issue. If they can’t find it there. They will put your car back together. With the extended warranty, they will take apart your car. Look for the issue. Wait for a warranty approval. If it’s isn’t approved, you pay for the fix. That happen to my daughters Jeep Renegade, a couple times.

Shop around for extended warranties. Read the fine print carefully. None of these extended warranties pay for wear and tear items. Is there going to be any Fiat service departments to service Fiats.

I bought the Mopar extended one. Wasn’t worth the purchase price. I could have paid for the rear wheel bearings, cheaper out of my pocket. I also had $100 deductible. Big waste of money. They wouldn’t pay for my broken door handle either, wear and tear.

If you live near Signal Hill, CA, or Spicewood, TX, I would go to 500 Madness for your service, because at least they know what they're doing, because they actually drive the cars, unlike my local Chrysler dealership, where everybody drives older Ford Rangers. I also wonder what will happen when a car gets recalled, and there isn't any FIAT dealers around to fix them. Hmmm.

They drive and service smart cars too. Even better! You would have to ask them, if they honored extended warranty work. I very much doubt.

The FCA may drive pickup trucks. The technicians, are factory Trained, to work on Fiat vehicles. Having the latest technical bulletins, software update. And can perform actual warranty, and manufactures recalls.
