2015 Fiat 500c Pop - Cabrio Top - Water Damage Interior

    Hi All,

I purchased a used 2015 Fiat C Pop. I absolutely love it. The price was unbeatable along with the mileage. It's the Yoshi color (cream green) with a black exterior convertible top and a tan interior top.

The previous owner must have left the top down (living in South Florida) or had some water damage to it, and I want to find out what would be the best solution to get this clean?

Note: I am a female who knows not too much about how to clean this - so please don't recommend I clean it myself lol. It needs to come off and be cleaned and a car wash place told me it can get tricky with the glue.

Do I take this to a detailer? a Fiat service shop? should I reorder an interior top through Fiat? is this possible? any recommendations are welcome. Thank you!

I've owned 2 500c's and I love them, The only thing that scares me about this car is the top. While not impossible it is a very daunting task to try and remove and install. I would reach out to a few detailers to see if they can get it cleaned without removing it first then price shop from there.. A new interior headliner is around $800-1000 then whatever labor to get it installed which I would guess has to see the entire top removed to install. I think that would add up really fast

Sinabu, good advice. To me, that looks like it could be mold. That can happed when a top is wet and left folded then maybe closed w/o leaving a windows open to air out.

I would talk to a couple shops and try to find someone who you feel comfortable with. Not all detail shops know what they are doing when it comes to mold/stain removal. You might want to ask advice from one of your local upholstery shops, especially one that works with convertible tops, to see what they recommend. You could also check with your dealer, who they recommend. Being in Florida, there should a lot of choices.

You are correct in going to a pro, unless you want to mask up and give it a try yourself. There are products that can do a good job. If it is mold, I think it's the same black mold that makes people rip out walls in their houses. With care, the can usually kill it and remove maybe 90% of the stain. For a 100% job, they may recommend dyeing the area.

Looks like black mold to me. If so it isn’t healthy to be riding in the car. You shouldn’t be breathing that in. My finish basement flooded once. Black mold appeared within a half a day on the walls. They Sheet rock and insulation had to be torn out. We scrubbed the 2 x 4 studs with bleach. That mold might be in the upper potion of the tops liner. Not sure how your going to get it clean. You might have to replace it. $$$$.

    So sorry. Good luck.

Sorry, that looks like black mold, like what the others are saying. I wouldn't drive the car if I were you, ingesting mold is bad for your health, like really bad. I hope that you can get it resolved.
