DICorse recommends changing your Multiair screen at 60,000 miles. The funny thing is very few dealers even know this screen exists and nowhere in the owners manual do they tell you to change it. We found out by a customer coming by with a rough running engine. One day it was perfect and the next it was shaking. The code was saying it was the Multiair brick. Changing the brick would be about a $2,800 job. I refused to believe that it can be the brick because the car was perfect the day before. We knew of the screen which is a tiny filter located in the brick and changed that first and immediately the car ran perfect. The car was a 2014 500L with 74,000 miles on it. Your car has a regular oil filter but this is an additional oil filter located in the brick.
It takes about 1.5 hours typically to change on most vehicles but it is recommended so that you do not experience a brick failure down the road.
The intake valves on your Multiair engine are not activated by a camshaft but by this Multiair system that is operated by oil. It is very sensitive to dirt so this is the reason why it has a built in screen.
If you would like one we keep them in stock and you can order at the following link: https://dicorse.com/shop/ols/product...iscreen-filter
