Kayak rig for 500X roof?

Hey yall! I have a 500X and a 10.5 ft (50 lbs) kayak that I'd like to rack on top.
I don't know if I'll ever do more than 30 mile away excursions.
Right now I just have a bare roof with no rack or bars of any type. I've seen some setups for Pops and Abarths but not the X. Has anyone done this? Know of a good way of mounting the kayak on there without breaking the bank? Cuz my bank is pretty fragile right now.
I was even thinking of just using those wedge shaped foam blocks with ratchet straps.

From my limited experience with roof racks I'd go with a light weight trailer to haul your boat. When traveling down the road a boat gets a lot of lift under the front. To safely carry it you'll need tie points at the front and rear.

A few incidents come to mind. One was where straps rubbed the paint. Another was where we ended with a mark in the hood, when a canoe slipped. The last was where my friend lost his canoe. It blew off and by the time he turned around, someone had stolen his boat.

Update: I just saw a 500X carrying kayaks. They used attachments to the rails that turn the kayak sideways. That might create less lift? (I'm sure he did it to get 2 on the roof, though.)

On our 2000 Grand Cherokee, we had a roof rack similar to that red 500X video. We use to carry our 2 mountain bikes to Colorado, and Chicago. Both 1,200 mile Journeys Round trip. We also had a large luggage carrier, connect to the top of it. I don’t see why not a 500X, couldn’t utilize a rack like that.
