Hi everyone! I routinely perform maintenance on my significant other's 2014 Fiat 500L. The few times I have had to remove the wheels for brake maintenance, I have noticed a couple of the front wheel bolts on both sides of the car are very stubborn and sticky when both removing and reinstalling them. When reinstalling, as the problem bolts begin to really grab, they will make one hell of a squealing noise and seemingly start binding before the bolt continues to turn. I end up in a situation where as I'm checking for 75ft/lb, my torque wrench will click and then the bolt will give a little more. It is also not possible to thread these bolts by hand. I might get a few turns by hand before I have to resort to a ratchet.
I have tried swapping some of the wheel bolts from rear to front and the issue does not follow the bolts. It remains with specific holes in the wheel hub. I gave all of the bolts a good cleaning and attempted to clean the threads on the wheel hub and it did not seem to improve the issue. I have been searching for an M12x1.25 thread chaser but they seem difficult to come by in Canada.
The rear wheel bolts behave normally - I can thread them almost entirely by hand and it only requires an additional quarter to half turn to torque them down.
