School help: how has fiat improved tech to help car be more clean?

I am writting on college, but I would like to focus on how Fiat technologies help improve no only engine tech but helped the car engines burn cleaner but give customers more MPG?

the focus on the paper how has a business helped to clean up the environment.

so I need to find good website that have good objective data.

Might not be a great time for it as FCA is being investigated for doing what VW did

Anyway, there is a great video on how multi-air works and how it improves economy and emissions.

The MultiAir and TwinAir engines are a great place to start for cleaning up the environment. Multiair is a hydraulically actuated VVT system allowing cylinder by cylinder & stroke by stroke control of air through the engines' air inlet valves. FIAT's 1.0 8v 60BHP TwinAir 2 cylinder is very clean, named the best engine under 1 liter, best new engine, and the best green engine and international engine of the year in 2011, only emitting 88g of Co2 per kilometer. (g/km)

thanks guys, the teacher told me he didnt know so much about fiat, according to what he told me that Fiat is just a lame car company and makes terrible engines. He told me after that Fiat make some really cool products and engines. Many people who i have talked to once they put aside their bias they usually say "oh wow, I didnt know fiat has done this much for the car industry, the auto mags usually write about how fiats are over priced or are junk. Like almost a anti ad against Fiat. Like they do what ever they can do to tell people not to buy it. Also they say many times the car journelist are as bad a cnn that they dont tell the whole story just what they want you to believe. Which I see things similar to the point of this blog, that fiat are amazing cars that more people should try them. Even though I dont currently own one it was one of my favorite cars. but the major point was how gas and diesel engines are really getting better and improving and have Fiat, Infiniti, and GM to thank a lot of about it. Also you dont have to buy a EV to show you care about the planet, you should buy by what you like what is fun life it is too short get a fiat. You wont regret it.

Probably worth remembering that the whole VVT idea dates back to the 60s and FIAT research.. Also the common rail direct injection technology is all based on the research FIAT did in the 90s.

Of course, no tech is created in a vacuum. Fiat came up with the engine, but Chrysler was the team behind multiair... and all built on 70 years of steady progression. Fuel injection has been around nearly 120 years, but caught on in WWII. In the 50's, Bendix invented electronic fuel injection, introduced in '57 by AMC. VVT and EFI can be mechanical, but improvements in computer control improved their efficiency... much quicker monitoring/switching. Keeping costs down required the invention of CANbus (Bosch), allowing multiple, and faster, computers to "chat".

One of the current leaders (in my book) is Fiat's latest engine. Another might be Mazda's Skyactiv, which attempts to combine the best of diesel and gasoline. New automatic transmission designs (something Fiat lags in) are quite promising as well, attempting to merge the best of manual and automatic and out thinking the driver. It'll be interesting to see how far the ICE car advances, as owner desires compete with environmental concerns.
