Budget hood vent install.

Hey everyone, I did a budget hood vent install on the abarth for around 40 bucks and thought I should share. It’s been a few weeks now and I haven’t had any problems and you can obviously feel the heat coming out of them (I have yet to do a yarn test while driving). I tried to place them as similar in position as I could to the trofeo cup cars since I am assuming they did their research regarding pressure regions.

The hood vents are basic focus rs spec vents.

it’s crazy how hot the engine bay can get on these cars next step is an fmic.

I noticed that it seems the later year trofeo cup cars had no vents (on some YouTube videos) I wonder why that was.

Looks really good. How is it attached to the hood?

I used a construction grade adhesive, I don’t remember the name of it but it is holding up. I have read people using the outdoor double sided 3m tape or bolts.

The car has been in some big rainstorms parked outside and driving in them and no problems regarding water so far either.

Hey, they look great! What material are they, fiberglass?

Where did you get them? I may steal this idea.

They are made out of abs plastic. I got them on eBay from a vendor in Taiwan, you can type in Ford Focus rs hood vents and various should show up. Make sure they are the actual vent and not some fake stick on vents if you decide to order. There are various videos of people installing them on ford focuses on YouTube.

Instead of a vent I removed the rubber gasket between the hood and body. Now I have a large vent at the windshield. I reinstall the gasket for winter.

Your vents do look nice. I just don't want to cut up my car.

Totally understandable, I had read that people where doing that with the gasket.

I think that the stock hood is beautiful.

Deltron, that hood looks very nice. I am concerned about the ABS not holding up for so long what with the heat and all. It has been a few months since you posted this. How about an update? Have the vents held up? Cracked? I want vents, too...
