Question about a Mopar Max Care Lifetime Plan

I have an original Mopar Max Care Lifetime Warranty Plan. Has anyone tried to get reimbursed for taxi service through this plan, which it covers. I was denied and need to send them a letter, so I want some tips. My car was getting a new transmission and the MVP plan states a loaner, renatl or taxi is covered. Thanks for your time.

Your car has less than 100K miles? They require a letter? How 20th Century of them.

My nephew had some problem collecting his $35 a day on his Dodge. In his case, his PU wasn't considered "disabled". He submitted a copy of the rental and repair printouts with a statement from the shop saying the truck was unsafe to operate. They reimbursed for the 2 days the truck was in the shop, not for the day he dropped it off. I think their original excuse was the repair took 2 hours, the rest was waiting for parts.

I had the Mopar 7 year extended warranty. It’s Just ended now. Was given a rental car for Enterprise, while the car was in the shop 3 days. Not a issue.
My daughter has a extended one, on her Jeep. They been weird about letting her rent a car.

did you both buy the extended warranties from either the same dealer or the same online source?

Same dealership, Olathe Jeep, Chrysler Dodge Ram, It was Fiat studio too. The dealership offered after market plans too. We went over, what was on the plans too. The deductibles. The dealership, has buying power, and can offer you deals, on extended Factory warranties.

We went with American Honda, on the new Accord too. So there’s no hidden Dealing.

Theoretically speaking - let’s say you buy a four-year, Mopar extended warranty. And then with 3.5 years remaining, FIAT pulls out of America AGAIN, and dealerships STOP offering repair services at dealerships anywhere near where you live.

Where would you go for service under the extended warranty? If FCA has one dealership offering FIAT repair service 1,000 miles from where you live, would I be expected to take the car there for service?

Every conversation I’ve had with FCA Customer Service about this returns an ambiguous answer, especially if I mention third-party repair facilities. Now that the 124 Spider is toast, that just leaves the L & X, and they can’t be far behind. What will happen to FIAT service when those two get cancelled? Anyone on the ‘inside’ have an opinion?

I’d always choose a factory extended warranty over a third-party because third-party companies can go bankrupt. But....

I don't know what you'd do if the whole company goes under. I assume the current FCA dealers would continue to carry Fiat service. Servicing autos is more profitable than selling them.

Last week a flat bed showed up at my dealer from a city 110 miles away. The factory warranty says it covers the tow for 4 years, but only if the repair is a warranty item and that the fail disabled the car. I don't have a copy of the extended warranty handy, but I think roadside assistance is extended. IIRC, it covers $100 towards a tow and $35 per day for a car rental.

I agree on the factory vs 3rd party warranty. With the factory you stand a better chance of collecting, with the dealer sometimes helping. With the 3rd party I had, I would have had to pay out of pocket then wait 90 days for reimbursement. Fortunately it was a car that ran perfectly its whole life because the warranty company changed their name 18-24 months after purchase.

At the moment, there are two dealers within 40 miles in each direction offering service, but 18 months ago there were six. Not good. Since I’ve already had a tranny go bad under warranty, I’m getting the warranty for sure, but maybe I’ll pay the extra $100 for the “money back” option.

We only have one Fiat studio left. With a few 2018 500s left. Two 500 X. That’s about it. There are several FCA dealerships that carry the Fiat brand here. Will service them. They have very little inventory at all. Like what happened to GM, when they dropped the Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer, and Olds brands. Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac honored their leftover warranty, and maintenance. If you got a Mopar extended warranty policy. Any FCA, Probably will end up honoring the warranty work. Fiats aren’t exotic cars.

Third-party extended Auto warranties, you can take your car anywhere and have them serviced. FCA will probably set something up, to handle remaining warranty claims, on Fiat vehicles. Parts are on new vehicles, are kept in stock for up to 10 years. Since Fiat here, isn’t offering any type of new model vehicle. Here in North America. I believe the brand is history here.

If you feel uncomfortable about the Fiat future here. It might be time, to look into another car brand. There’s nothing any one of us can do about this.
I take my All my vehicles for service, at a independent auto repair shop.
