    Recommendations for pads/rotors for '18 500 Abarth?

Strictly street use for now ... going to wait until the warranty runs out before I autocross it. Closing in on 17,000 miles and the brakes are a lot less effective now. When I first got the car I was amazed how much better the brakes were than my previous 500 Sport. TIA

i just put these on Chris’ Abarth a month or so ago. Used a online coupon and paid $246.58 shipped for the full set. She’s extremely happy with them and I’m completely amazed at the nonexistent dust.

When you ask 10 people about brakes, you usually get about 15 answers!

In my experience, the stock pads/rotors are fine. Mine held up to a lot of autocrossing with little wear on the rear (most braking is on the front as you know). When I did some track days with the Abarth, I just upgraded the pads to EBC yellow and put in DOT4 brake fluid, and they lasted for another year or two of autocross and then were totally worn out with more track days (2 fun filled days at Watkins Glen was a highlight.)

I replaced those with fairly stock cheaper pads/rotors since right now it's just a daily driver. 2013 Abarth now around 73,000 miles.

No problems with upgrading pads and/or rotors, but have you checked them to see if there is a lot of wear? Have you checked the brake fluid levels?

i find the brake feel on my 2018 500C Abarth to be exceptional and wish all my cars felt that good. Good rule of thumb to remember, change brake fluid every two years no matter what the miles driven. Air and moisture get in the brake system and cause havoc with braking feel and response. i would also consider stainless steel brake lines to help keep the firm brake pedal feel. The factory brake package is very good for he street and more than most need for stopping ability. Changing rotors and pads for a street car is over kill in my mind and change the excellent feel of the factory setup. Keep the new car feeling with the two year brake fluid change and you will be happy again..

Robert, I check fluid levels every two weeks when I'm working (been furloughed), once a month now that I don't get out much with all the Covid 19 stuff. Brake fluid level is fine though I'm not crazy about the idea of the brakes sharing the reservoir with the clutch. Took to the dealer in May for service (oil change) and their multipoint inspection sheet said 8mm of pad left all the way around. When the car was newer I was surprised how much better the brakes were than my previous 500 Sport. My guess is that's it's probably just pad wear. Dealer gets some pretty big $ for a brake job so when the time comes I may do it myself. Lots of brands and options out three-year ceramic vs. semi metallic pads, slotted rotors vrs. stock etc, etc. In the meantime with brake fluid being hygroscopic, I may take it in for a fluid flush. I did that with my previous Sport and it did make a noticeable difference.

If your not doing any track driving. Just Everyday, I personally stick with the OEM pads. If your looking performance pads. Id recommend the EBC yellow pad. Upgrade your rotors too. Agree....change your brake fluid too
