That is my European point of view.

Actually, I was considering (OK, my wife, or FOR my wife) going from 500X to Stelvio (on the plate were Stelvio, Macan, Q5).
Q5 won due to the largest trunk.
Stelvio would be more stylish, I think. But well, it is for her. Definitely, any of them is better than 500X was, except unique look of 500X and many positive comments on it.

It really looks nice. Very different.
did you check out the QX50 its very nice too but good choice. Audi are nice.

    Nope, did not.
But it's done now. Maybe in 5 years will be time for a change.
I must somehow stop buying cars... as in the last 4 years I bought, and then sold six, cars. Michigan is very bad when it comes to resale - you do not recoup the sales tax.

    Closing the circle -

After years of looking for "The Unicorn" (500X in an acceptable color w/ 6 Speed Manual and a Sunroof) - My wife gave me the thumbs up and allowed the purchase of a lease trade in 2018 Stelvio Sport. Silverstone Grey Metallic w/ Red Leather Interior, Panoromic Sunroof, Paddle Shifters, 20 inch wheels, yada, yada, yada...

This past Friday I made the 6 hr drive (one way) from the SF Bar Area down to Newport Beach Alfa Romeo to pick it up.

After first drawing a car that smelled like the previous driver smoked a pack of Camel non-filters in the front seat, Enterprise Car Rental upgraded me to a Black 2020 Mustang Ecoboost Convertible with 1,100 miles for the 6hr drive down to Newport Beach. A new car to pick up my new car - sweet

I have to say - as a hardcore 15 year owner of a 1998 Explorer Sport 4wd, I regretfully passed over purchasing the new 6th GEN 2020 Explorer due to all the problems it is experiencing (lack of build quality, transmission problems, brake problems, electrical problems, etc.).

I really wanted to buy American - BUT after reviewing the non-stop flow of complaints from new owners that are REGRETTING their purchase, I feel that I didn't leave FORD, FORD left me. They have a lot to work out from the top down within their current organization and the Chicago Assembly Plant...

BUT, with that dissatisfaction voiced, I am happy to say that the FORD Mustang is still a core product of FORD that they continue to "do right."

The Ecoboost Mustang was a rocket on rails and I wouldn't hesitate to say take one for a test drive and see for yourself.

The only disappointment was that I couldn't drop the top due to all the fire smog in the air - other than that - the car PERFORMED!!!

I left feeling that the Ecoboost 4 Cylinder did everything I asked it to do with PLENTY of horse power left over, the 10 speed automatic transmission was quick & seamless, the drivers seat was comfortable for the long haul, the SHAKER sound system rocked, and the car handled & braked like a slot car.

When I arrived in So Cal, I returned the rental car, and was picked up and taken to Newport Beach Alfa Romeo.

Let me start off by saying that Newport Beach ALfa Romeo is a class act through and through!

My salesperson was John Henry, and he exceeded my expectations.

From personally picking me up at Enterprise, to presenting me my professionally detailed Stelvio in the showroom, to showing me all the cars pertinent features and setting up my phone in the infotainment system for the car ride home.

John's brother Hector also works as a salesman at the dealership, and while John was processing my paperwork, Hector and I talked "gearhead" about the Mustang Ecoboost, the Stelvio, and since he used to sell FIATS, we talked about the 500 as well. The paperwork process took about an hour and a half, and then I made my back to Nor Cal in Friday LA rush hour traffic

The same day 8 hr return trip home in the Stelvio was excellent.

Car seating in modern cars is a big part of what makes this possible. The seats in the Stelvio were PERFECT. Once I got the driver seat seat "dialed in" , set my mirrors, set the infotainment system to my tunes - the car just about drove itself home.

The Stelvio got lots of craned necks/looks as it made it's way up I-5 because even in car is king PRK, they're rare - I've only seen my first one a few weeks ago in Sam's Club parking lot (white with red interior SPORT).

Going through the "Grapevine" on I-5 - the Stelvio proved that just like the Mustang, it was a more-than-capable BEAST.

When asked, It passed anything and everything with authority. The steering is tight, provides good feedback, and the suspension is very surefooted - this SUV just oozes with race care heritage!

When thrown into the twisties, the 50/50 weight distribution made the SUV handle like it was on rails.

We left tailgaters far behind as they attempted to keep pace with the Stelvio through the sweepers.

The tailgaters were sweeping wide and to the outside of the turns, while the Stelvio was diving tight and to the inside.

Although taller and heavier than the Mustang, it was just as sure footed - Bravo Alfa Romeo!

So - I started my journey at 7AM, and made it home the same day at 11PM - in total a 16 hour round trip.

After a quick shower and a few bites to eat, I was refreshed and caught my second wind. I stayed up a good part on the evening, filling my wife in on my adventure and how happy I was with our purchase - no regrets or remorse.

Now that the Stelvio is at it's new home - all that is left to decide is what to name it!

    @rustbucket and @5port

    Thanks for the kind words!

When I get in the Stelvio and shut the door, I feel like I went from 15 years in the Flintstone's car to the Space Shuttle.

Been dealing with having transfer the Garage Door Remote control from my old Explorer to the Stelvio every time I leave the house.

This past weekend I finally got up the courage to start doing "custom settings" to the Stelvio - followed the mantra of Bill Murray and went for "baby steps".

Spent about an hour first going through the 300 page operators manual (no success - think it's translated from originally being written in Italian), and finally jumped to YouTube (success!) trying to figure out how to pair our garage door opener remote control to the "Honelink" Door Opener that's built into the driver's visor - LOL!

Love the new ride - every time I merge onto the freeway it feels like it's like a wild stallion trying to break out of a pen.
