good afternoon. ive searched this marvelous forum & online generally....but because i dont really know how to word my question, im getting nothing

    - when you turn off a 2013 abarth manual trans, does an oil pump run for a minute or so sending oil around the turbo components?

if yes, more questions will follow. links to relevant posts or internet searches will be welcome.

if no, then i freaking dreamt it happens lol

Haha! I didn't notice the title. I fixed it.

The coolant after-run pump turns on depending on certain conditions. For example if you let your car idle down for a bit, the pump may not turn on, especially if it is cold outside or the engine is cold.

If you are driving the car hard and temperatures are elevated, the pump normally runs for a bit as soon as you turn off the car. Sometimes if the coolant level is low, the pump can be noisy, too.

I live on a pretty step mountain, so when I come home, I will try to let my car idle down a bit to cool off the turbo. My goal is to keep the pump from turning on. It really depends on how long I am willing to sit and idle down. If I was into the boost on the way home I will shoot for a few minutes. If I was taking it easy I may just give it a minute. Sometimes the pump will come on and sometimes it won't.

I work close to the exit of a highway - if I use the highway I'm coming of 15mi of 75-80mph, but I back off a half mile before the exit and cost the long ramp to the light. Then it's a few blocks to the office - the pump rarely comes on. But when I get home after coming up a hill it usually does come on.
