Not sure what he's going to do next. There's an interview with Drivetribe and they ask him to pitch his perfect car show and it's basically WheelerDealers without the buying/selling. He doesn't think it's necessary to have a "Mike". I agree for the most part. I've always thought it was a bit of a faff with Mike searching around and contacting people and haggling them. "Let's see if he accepts 9000 pounds, otherwise I'm walking away!" Well, spoiler alert, we already know you buy the car. There were only a few cars that they filmed him going out to see and passing on them, usually his mind is pretty made up.

Using air time to show selling it on is an utter waste of time IMO.

I enjoy the show. I like Mike's taste in cars and, of course, when the show was in Europe the cars were super interesting. The early shows were a bit quaint and there was the feeling you could do the same in your garage ignoring the fact that Ed is a master technician and craftsman. The later shows Ed went from spraying cars with a spray can to using high end equipment, but the shows still inspired you to go out and buy a classic and enjoy it.

I was sorry to see Ed go, but Ant is also very well skilled and does great work. I miss the UK location, but it is still cool that Mike finds interesting cars.

As far as Mike, I like him. He's been in the real car business a long time and not just an announcer. He doesn't do cars only as a hobby, which I appreciate. I find him personable, easy going, and not a snarky jerk. Plus, he looks like a real person and not a plastic Hollywood type so typical in many other car shows.

I don't get a chance to watch it as much as I'd like to.

It seems like they run about six episodes, back to back, on Thursday’s, which is why I have a Covid binge backlog. The only thing that drives me nuts is that I’d like a crack at some of their resale prices. The 1970 VW Fastback and 2004 Works Mini seemed like steals for the people who bought them. I wonder if there’s a back-channel telling how and where they’ll be selling the restored cars.

The worst vehicle, Ed, and Mike tackled. Was the AMC Pacer. Turned it into a disco runner. I wonder, if they ever sold that car.

I liked when Mike traveled from country to country. Buying cars, fixing them then selling them. Ultimate goal was to buy a Porsche as the final vehicle.

Mike had a used car lot. He and Ed had a show, before Wheeler Dealer. Mike would have Ed work on three vehicles. Of the same performance size etc. A buyer, at the end, would decide, on which car they wanted to buy. Mike has always been a horse traded, when it comes to buying, and selling cars.

Never saw the Pacer show. I have to catch up.

I remember that other show where he went all over! That was entertaining. What I like about Mike is he is easy going and not offensive when negotiating (at least on the show.LOL). That's one of the things I can't stand about that show pawnstars. They seem like they want to rob everyone who walks in there and are jerks most of the time from what I've seen.

I have to find that first show. It sounds familiar.

I remember seeing that they advertised in a paper at some point. Maybe check out their website and facebook page.

Maybe I’ll send them a request to do an old Abarth...

The episode in the shop in England. The vintage 500, they completely restored. Ed installed a Abarth engine.

Sweet! I’ll keep an eye out for it. Now do one here, in the U.S.

Pretty sure they ended up auctioning that one, took a massive loss, and donated the proceeds to charity.

I like the Pacer, maybe because of Wayne's World, maybe just because I like interesting cars even if they were considered failures.

That said, I'd rather have a Gremlin.

That sounds very entertaining, do you recall what they called it so I can try to find it somewhere?
