Who here has upgraded their headlights to LED?

Just like the title says who here has done that upgrade?
Please list the car, and how it was? did you pay a shop or did you DIY? How much did it cost? worth the upgrade?

    Why would anybody do that?

HID upgrades run cooler, are cheap and work great!

I was thinking about upgrading to LED’s. 2 of our other cars have them. There extremely bright, nice clean illumination. I read in some cases, the 500’s computer, doesn’t care for some aftermarket LED lighting. You’ll get codes. Every modern car on the road these days uses LED lighting. HID is really old lighting technology.

There was a vendor, called Diode dynamics’s . That sells LED lighting. There pretty easy to install. Lots of YouTube videos. Check out their web page below.

Installed these 9012 Auxito LED two days ago in the 500X and couldn't be happier. OEM light pattern, easy to install and bright. Seems high quality and reliable. They fit under the cap. My search is done:

Question for you guys how much should a shop charge me for doing the work for me ? I was quoted $285-$385 for 2-4 hours of labor. What do you guys think is this fair for my 2014 vw Jetta TDI?

When you consider todays labor rates its probably a good price. Its a shame though...its probably the easiest mod you can do. They are even non-polarized so it doesn't matter which way you connect the plug.

Today I tried doing my self really hard about lining up the adapter. I want to save some money but maybe not worth the headache.

That was the first thing I changed when I bought my 500T.

I used these for the running lights and they did require a resistor in paralleled to the bulb. Easy to do for the running lights.

I used these for the fog lights. They kinda suck as I had to pull the bumper cover to change the bulbs. That's why I was installing them though. Should never have to change them again. They did not require a resistor. No codes or fault indicators.

Lastly, I used these for the head lights. They also didn't require a resistor. Just plug and play. The light pattern was the same and the light output was increased. They certainly don't match HIDs but they're bright enough for me.

Now all my front lights match in color and shouldn't have to be changed again for quite some time.

thats a great & helpful review! certainly a great option for headlights. i love how you show that the beam pattern is very similar to the standard beam. thats always been my biggest concern. i dont want oncoming traffic constantly flashing me haha
