I replaced lower radiator hose after the quick connect failed. Now my coolant temp is like 4 bars. I think it should be like 2 bars. I'm thinking I have air in the system does anyone know if there is a bleed valve on Abarths or are they self bleeding? Any of you other smarty owners how many bars on your coolant temperature gauge seems to be normal? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Should be in the middle.

All about the coolant gauge and other instruments and dash lights:

I'll try and dig up the bleeding procedure for you.

The procedure the repair manual details is by evacuating or purging air by use of a pressurized air operated vacuum generator. The vacuum created allows for a quick and complete coolant refilling while removing any airlocks present in the system components.

I haven't done a new 500, but I use a simple vacuum pump like a Mityvac to help fill / bleed my coolant systems.

I don't know which gauge you have. The 2018 manual says normal operating temp should be in mid-range. On mine, 2 bars is cold, 4 bars normal. (#2 in pix)

What'd I'd do to fill the system is, fill the reservoir, burp all the radiator hoses to see if i could get the level in the reservoir lower. I would also disconnect the top hose going into the reservoir (that should be the highest point in the coolant system) and use the vacuum pump to pull a stream of coolant coming from it. Put the hose back on and then start the car. Run the car with the cap off while it warms up and until you see a stream of coolant come from the top reservoir hose or until the coolant level rises to the top and will overflow . Obviously be careful because of the hot coolant, etc. Top off the reservoir if the level falls while running so it doesn't empty out. Cap off the reservoir and keep an eye on the level and gauge. The reservoir level may go down at some point so monitor it for some days. This is off the top of my head, so if someone has another procedure or has done it on a 500 chime in.

Speaking generally, there are fill funnels available for some cars to help fill systems up or some people will jack the front of a car up to get the fill port at a higher level.

Lol, I was thinking if your coolant "temp" is 4 bar, something is hooked up wrong with the wrong instrument and I'd expect your radiator to explode any second.

Then I realised he meant 4 bars as in stock gauge, not a measure of pressure.
