Available now. $29.9 starting point. This could have been FCA’s segment, and no, I don’t accept the “American’s don’t want city cars” argument, as I expect these to sell quite well. But ONLY 110 miles per charge? Realistically 90 miles? I can buy a used Ford Focus e for $8k for those results...

    Where's that redesigned 500e?!?

Americans don't want city cars. Even in cities.

I’ve Watched a couple reviews on the Mini Cooper E, on You tube. The reviewers seem to like it performance wise. Hasn’t lost any of ICE brothers character or handling. Built on the same platform. It might start at $29k. Out the door you’ll probably spend $35-40K. Still it’s too expensive,
for it’s poor driving range. Nice little car.

Well, let’s see how sales are. Where I live, there sure are a decent number of Fiat 500’s and Mini’s on the road.

We’re you live, Mini’s are everywhere. When my wife and I, visit a good friend. Who lives in Redondo Beach. There’s a sea of Mini’s, all sizes. I see the Mini e doing well there. Here in the mid west, the Tesla brand, is really strong. There are a lot more Mini’s here then 500’s.

Never understood the point of a city car - one of the benefits of a city is that you don't need a car. If you want to have a car so that you can travel longer distances out of the city an EV is useless.
Completely stock 2016 500 Abarth, Rhino & Nero

The issue with a EV, in the city. Where do you find a place to charge the vehicle. I bought my smart car, and 500. For fuel economy only. I never has issues finding a parking space. I can park any place.

Air quality regulations will fix it when big, heavy trucks, with one person on board, will be banned from cities.
I am puzzled why someone would buy a truck to drive it in the city. Kind of like if I got 500 to haul masonry equipment on 5x10 trailer that is heavier that my car.

City cars... the problem is public transportation.
I would take a bus to work, only if there was any in Lansing.
In order to make a 10 mile trip on the bus I would have to walk 0.5 mile (not a problem actually) and then take 3 buses to finally, after 55 minutes in between them, walk another mile home. Overall, my 15-20 minutes daily commute turns into 70-minute trip.

Having small, quick EV - I can zip here and there. It would make much more sense in insurance and registration was not so expensive.
For my 7-8k USD worth 500e I pay 1.4k in insurance (annual premium) and 285 year for registration (which is calculated based on MSRP, not value of the car).
If I got base model 500, I'd pay 900 for insurance and 76 for registration. It'd save me 700 USD a year.

So it is kind of pointless to have EV in Michigan...
