    Extra 12v outlet

Has anyone installed an extra 12v outlet?

Where did you install it and what wires did you tap into.

    Thank you

I haven't done it on the 500, but have on former cars. The easiest way was to use one of these adapters (to charge batteries for my toys). Later I ran an extension to the trunk of the car for charging my e-scoot.

For the PU truck, I tapped the battery (with an inline fuse) and ran it to the canopy. In the cap I had 3 fused circuits.

I’ve installed a 2nd 12 volt socket, in a couple my old Jeeps cargo areas. Tied them into 12 volt socket of the dash board one. So it’s only powered on, when the key is on. Used it to power a inflation pump, for Bike tires.

The 500 is so small, never had a need for adding a 2nd one.

Seem to me you could hook this up in parallel with the hatch open light?

Would it draw too much power?

I’ve installed one in the trunk on the drivers side. I tapped into the front factory power socket by soldering a 12 gauge wire to the positive wire and running it under the carpet with wire loom for extra protection between the seats. All you have to do is remove the lower rear seat and it’s easy to run it to the rear. I couldn’t find a nearby ground, so ended up removing the plastic panel that covers the lower trunk latch and drilled a small 1/8 hole for a ring terminal and sheet metal screw. Will take pictures of how it looks tomorrow and post. I’ll see if I can link the parts I bought.
