I've sprung a large oil leak on the passenger side underneath the oil filter housing. My local garage has diagnosed it as a leaky oil return line from the turbocharger. They don't have much experience with Fiats, so they've suggested that I take it to the nearest dealer, which I'm scheduled to do tomorrow.
I would expect that the pressure in the return line would be low, so I'm surprised that the problem is with the return line, rather than the supply line. Anyway, is this something that could be caused by the use of a turbo blanket? I.e. higher temperatures causing the line or the gaskets to fail? Should I insulate the lines to prevent this in the future? Is it a big project to replace the return line?
