Alfa OBD to hack the BCM to add factory options

    Hello out there.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this...

    https://www.alfaobd.com/index.html

Looking around out on the internet, I was interested in finding a simple means to unlock factory options that my '17 500X Pop was never built with.
Specifically in my case adding a power/heated leather seat set and steering wheel.

The claim from AlfaOBD is that this can be used on just about any FCA vehicle to adjust settings, turn on/off features, reset TPMS, learn new keys, etc.
This is all without having to deal with the dealer service shops. Some videos below (yea its showing a RAM truck but it's the same for all FCA):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YreBRFZ7FsU

You buy the download and the correct dongle and scroll through options and turn them on. Total out of pocket cost is @$150.

It almost seems too good to be true sort of, so I'm wondering if anyone from here has experience with this?

I have an entire interior take-out from a wrecked trekking model including all switches and secondary fusebox.
I have also downloaded pretty much all the wiring diagrams, etc. off Chrysler Tech Authority for doing this swap.
Of course I am afraid of "bricking" my BCM so I am looking for experience on this stuff.

    Inputs?

    Thanks

So doing some digging around about AlfaOBD and unlocking options from the factory I came across this...

    https://www.dodge-dart.org/threads/f...3/#post-626601

Apparently this quite a do-able thing. Granted this is a Dodge Dart, but the architecture for the Dart was an Alfa Guiletta.
One would have to assume most of the same stuff is there.
Fortunately this guy has done A LOT of the footwork for me.
I think I am going to have a go at this after a bit more research.

This is awesome. Honestly, I’m about to get the obd reader; the one they recommend is $90 on amazon, and with prime I can get it tomorrow!! We have 4 FCA vehicles at home so it’d be fun to play with them a little.

I don’t have an android device, so I’d have to purchase something cheap; also, I saw that on the play store they offer the Alfaobd for $50 and then the demo version; just wonder if the free version would something. I’d like to try it before spending $50 on software. At least I could return the other things if it didn’t work out!

You might have more luck on the Multiecuscan forum. I’ve gone through an effort to map the 2012-2015 500 BCM, but there aren’t too many options to enable on that car. The 500x/L are completely different in terms of mapping because of unconnect, but it’s the same process to enable options, I’ve seen on Italian forums where individuals have enabled Nav/rear view cameras through the BCM, so the information is out there.

thanks for the info. I downloaded the app to take a closer look since its free, but when I selected 500X, it prompts you to choose the engine and only the European ones are on the list. It does not list the 2.4 tigershark, so I wonder if choosing other engine will cause any issues. Also, the only option I could find to enable, that Id like to, is the fog lights. Other than that, theres not much; although it does list the seat and steering wheel heaters.

There is no hex edit through the mobile app as far as i know, you'll likely need a set of specific cables to to talk to the BCM (or other modules). along with the software on a laptop.

    https://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

That'll show supported vehicles and requirements. Yours should be same as Jeep renegade

Oh ok. I don’t know anything about this; thought that this app with the obdlink was enough to make changes.

I have AlfaOBD and never heard anyone claim it can program new keys. Has anybody tried that on a Fiat 500?

Here I found a RAM forum that explains with screenshots how to do it.
I am interested in this program for other reasons, does it really allow you to enable features on your car?
