Angry Seat belt not retracting all the way

How do you correct a seat belt that refuses to retract all the way?
Driver's side retracts slowly half way then refuses to go any further.

On mine, the spring is fairly "limp" compared to some of the older cars I've had. I check that the webbing is not nicked and catching on anything. (I had one where a dog chewed on a belt, so would snag.) In time dirt, hair, moisture and food can build up in the retractor, mounted near the floor behind the trim panels.

On your 500, I think you are in luck though... no disassembly required. Dust/lint sometimes collects in the upper slider.

Mine been like that since new. Going on 9 years now. I think all my cars act up like that. You have to do a double pull down, and release up. I donít even think about it anymore. Till you bought up the subject. Now it probably bother me.

Hmmm, I'll have to try cleaning the guides. Mine has always been weak at retracting. I always just make sure it isn't twisted and give it a little boost to get started.

Reminding your passenger is harder to deal with. My best friend slammed the buckle in the door after it didn't retract and flopped out of the car. Ended up bending the door out and removed all the paint on the B pillar where it hit. This was like a month after I got my car. =[
